Revival Group AI · revivalgroup.ai/careers
Revival Group AI is an AI consulting firm that embeds as the technology function inside the organizations we serve. We've taken on a 12-month engagement to act as the embedded IT & Technology Desk for a faith-based nonprofit scaling from a single-county, ~16-person operation toward a national footprint. The client is moving from a person-dependent, tool-fragmented operation to a system-based, data-driven one.
The work is to design, build, and operate a unified, multi-tenant platform spanning the client's functional areas — program management, volunteer/community management, donor CRM & fundraising, operations, finance & compliance, an AI agent layer, knowledge base, multi-modal data ingestion, and a graph-style data model connecting programs, people, donors, and geographies. Delivery is milestone-gated across phases, with the heaviest load during the initial foundation/build sprint.
Both roles operate under Revival Group AI as independent contractors (1099). Standard confidentiality and NDA apply — the client's organizational, financial, and constituent data is held in strict confidence.
Fractional Technical Lead & Architect (Contract)
Engagement type: Independent contractor · Part-time / fractional · 12-month term
Location: Remote · Must be available for client operating cadence (Pacific business hours)
About the role
You are the technology owner for this engagement. You set the architecture, make the build-vs-buy calls, manage the relationship at the leadership level, and direct the engineer(s) who execute. You won't be writing the bulk of the code — your job is to make sure the right thing gets built, in the right order, on an architecture that scales from 16 users to national scale without re-platforming.
What you'll do
- Serve as the client's senior technology voice across strategic and operational decisions
- Own the full technology architecture: current state, build roadmap, scale trajectory, and the entity/data model
- Select and document the technology stack with rationale; make native-vs-custom build decisions per module
- Establish the data governance framework: ownership, access controls, audit trail, versioning, data portability
- Attend and contribute to the client's Monthly Operating Reviews alongside other functional leads
- Evaluate, select, and manage technology vendors and tooling on the client's behalf
- Provide technology input on expansion planning, go/no-go decisions, privacy, security, and compliance posture
- Define the build plan and direct the Full-Stack Platform Engineer; review their work and own quality and delivery
- Maintain the IT Desk knowledge base and field technology questions from leadership, staff, and board
What we're looking for
Required
- 10+ years in technology with senior leadership experience (CTO, VP Engineering, Principal/Staff Engineer, or technical founder)
- Track record architecting multi-tenant, API-first platforms that scaled by orders of magnitude
- Strong data modeling judgment — you can design a graph-style model with typed, time-bound relationships
- Executive-level stakeholder management; can sit in a leadership review and translate between business and technical
- Experience directing engineers and owning delivery, not just advising
- Self-directed; comfortable as an embedded fractional resource without supervision
Strong pluses
- Nonprofit, mission-driven, or resource-constrained operating experience
- Familiarity with CRM, fund accounting, grants, or donor/fundraising systems
- AI/LLM architecture experience (agents, automation, transcription/translation pipelines)
