The Company
We're building software that cities use to manage the roads, water, bridges, and other infrastructure that they're responsible for maintaining.
Stage & proof points:
- Raised $5MM
- Doing $1MM ARR
- Currently overwhelmed with inbound demand
The Work
We're looking for a Fractional CTO who can increase our momentum and help lead us through the next stage of our product's growth.
Specifically, you'll:
- Own architecture and product priorities for our map-based product
- Mentor our team, and help them execute. The team consists of:
- ML engineer
- Frontend-focused engineer
- Be hands-on in the codebase, shipping new features as needed
- Help run our full-time hiring process, including technical interviews
- Work most closely with our CEO
Tech stack:
- React on Vite (Typescript)
- Mapbox GL
- Bun and Express with tRPC
- Postgres
- Python for the ML pipeline, + CV models and video processing
The intention is for this to be a short-to-medium-term engagment during our transition period, with an opportunity to become our full-time CTO.
About You
You MUST have:
- Owned engineering as a CTO, Head of Engineering, or equiv. for other venture-backed tech startups
- Significant early-stage work, building 0 - 1 type products, and iterating quickly
- Hired US-based engineers recently
- Recent, hands-on coding work where you are shipping features yourself
- Highly comfortable with our Typescript-based tech stack
- A strong product and design sense
- Experience building enterprise B2B applications
- Heavy Claude Code, Cursor, etc. user
- Based in the SF / Bay Area only
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with mapping software
- Experience with software that touches the physical world in some way
- Frontend engineering expertise
- ML engineering expertise
