The Company
We're building software that cities use to manage the roads, water, bridges, and other infrastructure that they're responsible for maintaining.
Stage & proof points:
- Raised $5MM
- Doing $1MM ARR
- Currently overwhelmed with inbound demand
The Work
With our hands-on CTO is leaving us, we're looking for a Fractional Tech Lead who can keep our momentum going and help lead us through this transition period.
Specifically, you'll:
- Own full-stack development for our map-based product
- You'll be hands-on in the codebase, shipping new features every day
- Collaborate with, and potentially mentor, our ML Engineer
- Help run our full-time hiring process, including technical interviews
- Work most closely with our CEO
Tech stack:
- React on Vite (Typescript)
- Mapbox GL
- Bun and Express with tRPC
- Postgres
- Python for the ML pipeline, + CV models and video processing
The intention is for this to be a short-to-medium-term engagment during our transition period. If you're based in the SF Bay Area, there's an opportunity to become our full-time CTO. If not, you'll help us hire the right person.
About You
You MUST have:
- Owned engineering as a Tech Lead, Architect, or CTO for other venture-backed tech startups
- Significant early-stage work, building 0 - 1 type products, and iterating quickly
- Recent, hands-on coding work where you are shipping full-stack features end-to-end
- Highly comfortable with our Typescript-based tech stack
- A strong design sense, can make design decisions on your own that translates into great frontend work
- Experience building enterprise B2B applications
- Heavy Claude Code, Cursor, etc. user
- Based in the USA or Canada
- Latam or South America could work if your experience is with US-based tech startups only
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with mapping software
- Experience with software that touches the physical world in some way
- ML engineering expertise
- Based in the SF Bay
