Fractional Growth & Fundraising Marketing Lead

Location: Remote (US time zones)

Position Type: Fractional/Contractor 

Hours: ~15-25 hours/week

Duration: Initial 6-month engagement (with potential to extend)

Compensation: $3,000-$6,000/month depending on experience

Who We Are

The Concussion & CTE Foundation is a mission-driven organization focused on ending human suffering caused by concussions and CTE. Right now, our communications team includes marketing, digital content, earned media, and social/video, and we are looking to strengthen how our marketing drives fundraising and audience growth.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a fractional Growth & Fundraising Marketing Lead to help us build and optimize our donor acquisition and retention systems.

This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone who has experience turning content and marketing efforts into measurable fundraising outcomes.

What You’ll Do

You will work closely with Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Manager to:

  1. Build Our Fundraising Marketing Engine
  • Map and improve our donor journey (first touch → repeat/recurring donor)
  • Develop segmentation strategy for email and audiences
  • Design and implement automated drip campaigns
  • Identify key opportunities to improve conversion and retention
  1. Drive Strategy & Prioritization
  • Assess our current marketing efforts (email, web, SEO, ads, content)
  • Recommend a clear growth roadmap tied to fundraising goals
  • Help prioritize what the team should (and shouldn’t) focus on
  1. Guide Execution
  • Partner with our Marketing Manager (SEO, site, ads)
  • Partner with our Digital Content Coordinator (email execution, content)
  • Ensure campaigns are aligned and optimized across channels
  1. Introduce Measurement & Testing
  • Define key KPIs (donor acquisition, conversion rates, retention)
  • Implement simple testing frameworks (email, landing pages, campaigns)

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years in marketing, with strong experience in:
  • Growth marketing, lifecycle marketing, or fundraising marketing
  • Email strategy, segmentation, and automation
  • Conversion optimization and funnel design
  • Experience in nonprofits, mission-driven orgs, or fundraising strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
  • Comfortable working with small teams and guiding existing staff
  • Clear communicator who can translate strategy into action

What Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)

  • Clear donor funnel and segmentation strategy in place
  • At least 2–3 automated email journeys launched
  • Improved performance in key metrics (e.g., conversion, retention, engagement)
  • Strong alignment across marketing channels and team roles
  • A prioritized roadmap for continued growth
