About FanEngine

FanEngine is a fan data platform for creators. It consolidates fan and follower data, scores engagement, segments audiences, and tracks campaigns and purchases so creators can turn their audience into a business.

The platform is in use by multiple creators with 1M+ followers and is a solid foundation. The product itself is still being defined: which problems we solve best, for whom, and how we package it are open questions this role will help answer.

The role

We're hiring a fractional CTO who owns both product and engineering. You will be the sole implementer: you decide what to build, build it, and ship it.

FanEngine is AI-native. Our engineering runs on Claude and AI coding tools, and it's normal to ship multiple features a day. Beyond using these tools, you'll help define how a small company works with AI across product, engineering, and operations.

The tech stack

We build on Next.js and Vercel, with integrations into creator tools (Customer.io, ManyChat, Shopify) and MCP connectors that let Claude work directly with FanEngine data.

What you'll do

  • Own the product roadmap: work with creators and the team to define what FanEngine is and prioritize what ships next
  • Design, build, test, and deploy features end to end, using Claude and other AI coding tools to move fast
  • Own the architecture, data model, security, and reliability of a multi-tenant platform
  • Build and maintain integrations with the tools creators already use
  • Shape our AI-native ways of working: Claude skills, MCP connectors, agent workflows, and team playbooks
  • Make build vs. buy calls and keep the platform simple enough for one person to run

What we're looking for

Required

  • Senior full-stack experience shipping production web apps, ideally TypeScript and Postgres
  • Product judgment: you can talk to users, define the problem, and decide what not to build
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools, with a track record of shipping fast without losing quality
  • Comfort being the only engineer, owning everything from schema design to deploys
  • Clear written communication with non-technical teammates

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of the creator economy: creator monetization, fan engagement, social platforms, or email and DM marketing
  • Experience with Supabase, Vercel, or multi-tenant SaaS
  • Experience building Claude skills, MCP servers, or agent workflows
  • Prior startup or fractional leadership roles
