About Us
We're a fast-growing social app for tracking the shows you and your friends are watching, games you're playing, etc.
We have 600K+ users to date and are backed by First Round Capital among others. Advisors include Nikita Bier.
About the Work
We're building out our friend-finding featureset (think contact syncing, social graph mapping, etc.), and we need it done right. We're looking for a Fractional Senior Full-stack Engineer to lead (primarily) backend development for this featureset.
Specifically, you'll:
- Build the entire friend-finding backend
- Real-time contact syncing
- Phone number normalization, hashing, and privacy-preserving matching engine
- Fast, in-memory graph using Redis for matching and scoring
- Friend-of-friend and reverse contact matching
- If interested, you can own the frontend too
- If not, you'll work closely with our lead frontend engineer
- Work mostly async, with very regular checkins and updates
Tech stack:
- Node.js (Typescript)
- React Web (Typescript)
- Redis
- AWS, ElastiCache, Lambda, S3
- Pulumi
- Postgres
We're open to time commitments ranging from 20 - 40 hrs / week
About You
You MUST have:
- Deep expertise in our tech stack above
- Engineering work at other social, messaging, or viral-growth oriented consumer apps
- You've built contact-syncing, friend-finding, social graph mapping features before
- If you've not built these kinds of features before, this won't be the right fit
- You work independently, asynchronously, and communicate proactively
- Willing to be on call as needed for infra issues
- 5+ hrs of overlap with EST
- But you can work on your own time
