The Duckbill Group provides consulting services to mid-market and enterprise companies aimed at optimizing and managing their AWS spend. We are looking for a fractional Head of Delivery to provide strategic leadership and oversight for our FinOps practice. We are not venture-funded and have no intention of becoming so. We’re financed instead by the magic of revenue and profitability. We are a fully remote company. We’re a company of five employees currently and just over five years old.

Do you have a passion for optimizing AWS cloud costs and building high-performing teams? Are you a seasoned technology leader with a strong grasp of AWS at scale? Do you have a passion for delighting the customer and providing superior delivery that wow’s the customer? If so, The Duckbill Group wants to hear from you!As the Fractional Head of Service Delivery, you'll be responsible for driving excellence in our AWS consulting practice. This includes:

• Building a Winning Team: Lead the recruitment and hiring of FinOps staff (both FTE and contractors)
• Delivery Leadership: Manage our team of FinOps consultants (~3-6 people, contractors and FTEs, mainly engineering-shape), ensuring high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction
• Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of operating AWS at scale and
• Project Oversight: Oversee 2-4 client engagements at a time, ensuring “best in class” delivery that stays on track and provides exceptional value
• Quality Champion: Hold our team accountable for delivering high-quality work, exceeding KPIs and white glove service, while continuously working to improve
• Process Optimization: Identify and implement continuous improvements to our consulting delivery processes and capabilities
• Executive Presence: You’ll likely end up on calls with CxOs of some of the largest organizations out there
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in technology consulting (independent or firm)
• Executive presence and the ability to build strong relationships with clients
• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing technology teams
• Deep expertise in AWS technologies at scale
• Prior experience in managing projects and/or consulting engagements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
• Experience in recruiting and hiring technical talent, with an eye on retention, continuous improvement, and upskilling
• Engineering background and best practices for cost optimization is a plus!
