Role Description
NOTE: We're open to both fractional or full-time candidates.
You will be reporting directly to the COO. The Director of Strategic Finance will partner with Hudson’s lean management team to help strategize on platforms across the business and implement/operate the financial infrastructure of the company. This role has limitless growth potential and is a great position for someone looking to gain cross-functional and interdepartmental exposure at an early-stage growth healthcare company that is at an inflection point in its history. In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing financial, accounting systems, and reports and metrics which will inform the day-to-day decisions of the management team of the company. There are critical components to this role include:
- Perform global audit of current financial/accounting systems, workflows, team, and reporting (First 30 days)
- Improve and operate back-end financial infrastructure for the business
- Improve and operate “real-time” financial infrastructure for the business (strategic function which aids in tracking/measuring the financials and key performance indicators of the business)
- Develop process for modeling and measuring client and service economics (LTV, CAC, Service margins)
- Liaise outside contractors that support accounting functions
- Ad hoc strategic projects – ownership ideation through execution
About You
- Experienced, and proactive financial leader that can hit the ground running to revamp the financial backbone of a fast growing company between three divisions
- Scrappy startup minded, can provide sensible recommendations on allocation of resources
- Able to work alongside executive leadership to help refine growth strategies
- Strong communication skills to be able to effectively support cross-functional managers, executive leadership, and outside contractors
- Experience managing bookkeepers and outside vendors
- Data-driven: measure and improve the impact of your efforts
- Attention to detail: you are organized and savor getting the details right
- Multi-tasker: ability to manage various processes and reporting in tandem
Responsibilities
- Developing, implementing, and operating enhanced, efficient financial systems and processes.
- Analyze historical P&Ls and growth plans to develop end to end budget across all departments
- Set KPIs for the business and set growth targets
- Monthly Reporting of division performance and accounting
- Analyze and synthesize financial data to executive level communications, working collaboratively with business stakeholders
- Partnering with other management team members to help inform strategies and decisions
- Document / maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and integrity of financials
- Oversee and direct financial analysis, budgeting and planning activities for the organization.
- Support fundraising efforts: history, projections, key metrics
- Manage internal bookkeeper who is responsible for:
- Managing the monthly financial close process - ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, preparing journal entries and maintaining the general ledger
- Conducting account balance reconciliations and prepare ad-hoc reports for other members of the organization
- Managing cash, credit card spend, and AP/AR
- Assisting with payroll and other general administration, as needed
- Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns, financial statement audits, and sales tax returns
- Organize contracts, tracking compliance with various vendor & customer agreements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting
- Experience and strong understanding of accounting principles and practice
- At least 6+ years of professional experience in either a private equity, investment banking, consulting, strategy or finance capacity
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
- Experience or interest in the healthcare industry
- Self-motivation with strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizational skills
- Strong analytical capabilities and data-driven mentality
- Proven ability to influence and lead cross-functional team
