The Opportunity: Fractional CMO
We’re looking for a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer to elevate the MikeWorldWide brand as a business, thought leader, and employer. This role is ideal for a high-impact strategist who thrives in brand-building environments, can develop modern marketing programs from the ground up, and wants to shape the public narrative of an agency that’s constantly evolving.
You’ll partner closely with our CEO and the Executive Leadership team to own the external face of the agency—architecting and executing a marketing strategy that drives visibility, reputation, and growth across key practice areas and business units.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Brand Stewardship & Strategy:
- Own and evolve the overarching MikeWorldWide Group narrative, ensuring consistency across corporate, digital, and lifestyle agency brands.
- Translate business goals into a clear, compelling marketing strategy aligned with reputation and revenue objectives.
- Build a unified point of view and messaging architecture that shows how MWW leads the communications industry into the future.
Thought Leadership & Content Engine:
- Guide development of a strategic thought leadership platform for the agency, including bylines, trend reports, whitepapers, and commentary from executives
- Curate and publish insights that position MWW as a must-interview agency on topics like reputation, influencer, AI + communications, and the evolving modern media ecosystem
- Support Marketing team with the development and distribution of the agency website/blog, email marketing, and social content that ladders back to brand positioning
Awards & Recognition:
- Define an awards strategy that aligns with the agency’s strengths—selecting the right categories, publications, and juries that reinforce our reputation.
- Lead the crafting of compelling award entries across creative, corporate, and leadership categories (e.g. PRWeek, SABRE, Adweek, Sports Business Joirnal).
- Create an internal calendar and process to keep submission efforts proactive and streamlined
Events & Visibility:
- Identify and secure high-value speaking engagements and conference participation for senior leaders—focusing on arenas that shape the future of communications, business, tech, and culture
- Partner with business development and HR to concept and execute owned events, whether salon dinners, networking breakfasts, or virtual forums showcasing our POV
- Support activation strategy and visibility at key industry tentpoles, where appropriate (e.g. Cannes Lions, PRovoke, ANA, CES).
Client-Facing Marketing Assets:
- Work with the design and strategy teams to update and evolve marketing collateral, including credentials, case studies, and sizzle reels.
- Shape our agency “leave behinds” with a strong voice and clear hierarchy of value—moving away from capabilities and toward provable business impact.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Provide day-to-day strategic guidance to a lean, cross-functional marketing team (including PR, content, and design).
- Help shape internal marketing operations, from campaign planning to tracking and reporting on KPIs.
- Act as a connector across business units to surface proof points, success stories, and emerging service innovation.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of senior marketing experience, ideally in PR, agency, professional services, or consultancy environments.
- A track record of building strong B2B brands and marketing functions, especially in reputation-first or creative services sectors.
- Sharp editorial instincts and ability to distill complex ideas into compelling, media-friendly narratives.
- Hands-on experience managing award submissions, editorial calendars, executive visibility programs, and campaign rollouts.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically within a scrappy, fast-moving environment.
- Collaborative, ego-free mindset with strong storytelling skills and a love of the work.
- Strong knowledge of AI and its uses for marketing.
- Track record of use of data and systems for targeting and outbound marketing.
