Location: Dallas, TX – hybrid Downtown office

Salary Range: $90-110/hr. (W2)

Akkodis is seeking a Fractional vCISO for a part time, contract position in Downtown Dallas, TX. This will be a hybrid role for roughly 4 hours/day. The desired candidate will have 10+ years of information security experience including 5+ in executive leadership. The Fractional vCISO will serve as a trusted security advisor, providing executive-level cybersecurity strategy, governance, and oversight. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional with deep technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to translate complex security concepts into actionable business strategies. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
• Act as the executive sponsor for client security programs, providing board-level updates and risk assessments.

Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)

• Establish and maintain cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, CMMC, SOC 2).
• Conduct risk assessments and maturity gap analyses to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.

Operational Security Oversight

• Oversee incident response readiness, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
• Partner with IT and business stakeholders to strengthen security controls across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Provide oversight of third-party risk management and vendor security assessments.

Client Engagement & Advisory

• Deliver executive-level briefings, roadmaps, and security awareness programs.
• Serve as a trusted advisor, aligning security investments with business priorities and budget.
• Mentor and guide internal security teams on emerging threats and best practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in information security, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role (CISO, Deputy CISO, vCISO, or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks: NIST CSF, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, and Zero Trust.
• Hands-on expertise in cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), endpoint protection, and identity management.
• Experience building a cybersecurity roadmap and executing on those initiatives.
• Proven track record advising executive teams and boards on cybersecurity risk and strategy.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
• Relevant certifications strongly preferred (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCISO, or equivalent).
