Engineering Architect

DeFy is seeking a Fractional Ticketing Platform Engineering Architect (5–7 hours/week) to provide expert architectural guidance as we evolve our modern, flexible ticketing system. Our platform is already live and stable; we’re looking for a senior ticketing domain expert to help shape the next generation of features and infrastructure. This is a high-impact, low-hours advisory role where engineering executes and you guide.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level architectural oversight for the continued development of our ticketing platform.
• Advise on industry-standard practices for inventory management, ticket rules, and hold configurations.
• Guide the design of secure and scalable flows for entrances, scanning, and fraud prevention (e.g., QR-based access control).
• Review and advise on payment flows, refund/transfer logic, and financial reconciliation processes.
• Assist in evolving reporting, settlement, and organizer dashboard functionality to meet best-in-class standards.
• Serve as a strategic partner to the engineering team, offering domain-specific insight without deep operational involvement.
• Ensure system design remains flexible, scalable, and organizer-friendly.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in ticketing platforms such as Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, SeeTickets, Dice, AXS, SeatGeek, Tixr, Posh, FrontGate, or Universe.
• Strong understanding of ticketing system components including inventory/holds, ticket rules, access control, QR/fraud protection, payment  
   handling, refunds/transfers, and post-event settlement.
  
• Proven architectural instincts in designing scalable and reliable transactional systems.
• Experience advising engineering teams and offering impactful insights in a fractional or consulting capacity.
• Ability to distill complex domain knowledge into actionable guidance for product and engineering teams.
• Clear communicator comfortable working in a high-trust, low-structure remote environment.
