Technical Delivery Lead

We're looking for someone who wants to grow into running the technical side of our business.

Helbling Digital Media (HDM) is a 20+ year, profitable digital agency working across WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Webflow, HubSpot, Salesforce, React, Next.js, and custom development. Our sister company, Summit, is an AI-first growth company using Claude, Lovable, Supabase, and Vercel to build scalable growth systems — websites plus AI, automation, SEO/AEO, and integrations — for clients who want more than a website.

This isn't a typical developer role, and it isn't a traditional PM role. We're looking for a technically strong, entrepreneurial operator who wants to start fractionally and grow into owning technical delivery across both companies.

THE ROLE

Right now, our founder is the bottleneck: sales, solutions architecture, technical discovery, scoping, developer selection, QA, and client escalations all run through one person. We're hiring a technical operator to take that over — running technical discovery, scoping and estimating projects, selecting and managing a bench of contractor developers, owning QA and delivery risk, and being the technical voice in client conversations. You'll work closely with our project manager, who owns process and coordination, while you own the technical judgment calls.

This starts as a fractional/contract engagement, roughly 20-30 hours/week to start. For the right person, the path is clear:

Fractional Technical Lead → Technical Delivery Lead → Head of Delivery → potentially a senior operating role across HDM and Summit.

LOCATION

Remote (US), Eastern or Central time zone required. Strong preference for candidates based in Cincinnati, Dayton, or elsewhere in Ohio — but we will not sacrifice quality for geography within those time zones.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Real hands-on web development background — WordPress strongly preferred, plus any combination of WooCommerce, Shopify, PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, APIs, HubSpot, Salesforce, CRM integrations, or ecommerce
• Enough technical depth to evaluate a developer's estimate, not just take it at face value
• Genuine, current use of AI development tools (Claude, Cursor, Lovable, GitHub Copilot, v0, or similar) — or real enthusiasm to adopt them
• A track record of owning outcomes, not waiting for direction — comfortable operating in ambiguity
• Experience managing or directing other developers or contractors
• Confidence communicating directly with business owners and executives about technical tradeoffs
