We power the second‑largest food‑waste diversion operation in LA County and serve prominent partners like Marriott, AEG, and the Intuit Dome.

Our Engineering Culture

We are a small, agile team that embraces modern tools to build quickly. Our junior engineers use AI‑assisted development to spin up functional prototypes, allowing us to rapidly test and iterate. We’re looking for a senior technical leader to be the cornerstone of this process. The ideal candidate is excited to mentor, architect, and guide these prototypes into enterprise‑grade, scalable features. Your role is to elevate our engineering quality and empower the team to build better, faster.

Role Summary

This is a high‑impact, fractional role for a seasoned engineer who loves architecture, databases, sustainability, and mentorship. In 10‑15 hours a week, you will act as our technical authority, focusing on hardening our infrastructure, guiding our development process, and mentoring our junior engineers. You will be our Postgres and CI/CD guru, ensuring our React/Supabase stack meets enterprise standards for security, performance, and reliability.

What You’ll Own

• Architecture & Mentorship (40%)
  
  • Lead weekly code and architecture reviews to mentor junior engineers and level up the team.
    
  • Guide the evolution of AI‑generated prototypes into well‑architected, production‑ready code.
    
  • Establish and enforce our coding standards for React, GitHub Actions, API integrations, and Supabase schema/functions.
    
• Data Security & Auth (30%)
  
  • Design and enforce robust policies for data security and authentication.
    
  • Oversee our database schema, backup, and scaling strategies to ensure data is secure and our platform can grow.
    
• Dev→Prod Pipeline & Testing (30%)
  
  • Architect and enhance our CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, Vercel) for fast, safe releases.
    
  • Champion a pragmatic testing culture, implementing lightweight but effective unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests so we can ship with confidence.

Must‑Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven history of technical leadership.
  
• A genuine passion for mentorship and a talent for making other engineers better.
  
• Mastery of PostgreSQL, including advanced authentication models and Row‑Level Security (RLS).
  
• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and the modern front‑end ecosystem (TanStack Query, etc.).
  
• Proven track record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  
• Hands‑on experience implementing pragmatic, effective automated testing strategies.
  
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, low‑ego approach to problem‑solving.

• Experience with Supabase (Edge Functions, Storage, etc.).
  
• Mobile/Android prototyping experience (React Native, Kotlin).
