COMPANY

‍General Collaboration (GC) is a cross-app inbox that aggregates comments across all apps people use at work (like Google Docs, Figma, Linear, Notion, Airtable, Slack, etc). GC prioritizes the most important comments and blocks out the noise, so GC users can easily focus and take action on what matters most.

With a UX similar to Grammarly, GC works inside all the apps GC users already use at work. It’s not another standalone app.

GC is first adopted by individuals before landing-and-expanding from teammate to teammate. Though enterprise SaaS, GC is a consumer-ish startup. You can try GC for yourself here.

ROLE & YOUR MISSION

‍We are hiring a full-stack developer to join our team on a fractional basis.

We’ve reached early stages of product-market fit. In the next 3+ months you’ll work closely with our founding engineer, Danny Aziz, and our founder, Elliott Poppel, to build and ship product and features that:

• help our users collaborate more efficiently and effectively
• promote our users sharing GC with their teammates
• help us speed up the time it takes to process out users comment data
• improve our 3rd party API connections (error and rate limit handling, etc.)

Our ideal teammate is:

• pragmatic - prioritizing only what is essential in effort to get impact as quickly as possible;
• goal-oriented - thinking about how what you’re working on fits into our holistic, end-to-end experience as well as second and third order consequences;
• and collaborative but independent - able to keep and accelerate our momentum by  working asynchronously in the most efficient and effective ways possible. We’re a team that’s highly collaborative but anti-meeting.

CORE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, with Typescript familiarity
• Experience with relational databases (like Postgres)
• Experience designing and architecting reliable distributed systems
• Experience with frontend frameworks that will allow for quick prototyping and iteration
• Ability to write high performance, reliable, and maintainable code

‍Direct experience with the below is not necessary, however this is what we currently use:

• Typescript
• Express + GraphQL API
• Redis
• BullMQ
• React
• Tailwind
