About Velvet
Velvet is an AI-first data platform. We help engineers warehouse and leverage their LLM logs to analyze, optimize, and fine-tune their AI features. We have funding from institutional VCs and are seeking contributors. We’re open to full-time employees, or fractional contractors. Emma and Chris are the founders of Velvet. Emma is a second-time founder and has worked on product teams at Fitbit, theSkimm, and Chicago Ventures. Chris is a software engineer with experience at Pebble, MongoDB, and as the CTO at a variety of high-growth startups.
Job description
As a fractional founding engineer, you’ll work closely with the founders to meet weekly goals. The ideal candidate is a full-stack engineer who is comfortable navigating a modern tech stack. Our system is built on Next.js (Vercel), Typescript, Node/Deno, Postgres (Supabase), and LLMs (like OpenAI). Preference for people based in NYC / EST, but we’re a remote-first team.
Responsibilities
- Ship new features weekly
- Maintain and improve system architecture
- Collaborate on strategy and planning
Qualifications
You’re a good fit for this role if you:
- Can work M-F between 9-7 ET (NYC)
- Have a consistent 10-40 hours availability per week
- Are comfortable with the Typescript / Next, and have shipped AI / ML features
