About Us
We're a financial services consultancy that's been contracted to support a large laboratory testing facility on their transformation.
They provide lab testing and analytics services to the food & beverage industry in Northern California. They're a family-owned and operated business that is now reaching $50MM / year in revenue.
NOTE: For this role, you'll be working underneath our consultancy to spearhead the relationship with our client.
About the Work
Because it's a family-owned business, the company's financial operations is stuck many years in the past. We're looking for a Fractional Finance Leader to first audit, and then transform the company's finance team.
Specifically, you'll:
- Audit the company's accounting and finance processes on activities like:
- Transaction coding
- Accounts receivable
- Reconciliations
- Fixed asset tracking
- Monthly books closing
- Interview key stakeholders and team members to document current finance team workflows
- Evaluate the existing technology and tools used
- Some processes are still paper-based
- Develop a strategy for a transformation, which may include:
- Process overhauls
- Technology upgrades
- Personnel changes
- and more
- Work mostly closely with our consultancy's CEO, and the client's leadership team, including their outgoing CFO (family member)
Our budget ranges from $5K - $10K / month (assuming about ~10 hrs / week), since we're open to different levels of seniority.
About You
You MUST have:
- Significant Accounting experience with small & medium-sized businesses (think $10 - $100MM revenue)
- Led finance department transformations either in-house or with clients
- Very high EQ - this is as much a finance role as it is a relationship management role
- Based within commuting distance of Napa Valley, California and comfortable being on-site multiple days per week
Nice-to-haves:
- Big 4 Accounting background
- You've supported family-owned businesses and understand that unique dynamic
- Experience with lab testing, lab analytics, life sciences, or other science services businesses
- Familiar with Microsoft Dynamics
