About the Role
The FD oversees and is accountable for all financial, legal and compliance matters in the Company. The FD is a key member of the Senior Management Team and board member and as such contributes and oversees all material decisions impacting directly and indirectly the company’s ability to grow and to remain profitable.
The FD has the accountability for developing the Management and Administrative functions regarding financial control and insights and the deployment of legal, efficient and effective financial and bookkeeping processes. The FD has a responsibility for understanding and developing the financial processes in line with statutory financial requirements and the Company’s mission, values and brand.
The role holder will act as a financial advisor to the Directors enabling them to make robust and informed business decisions, evaluating the relative benefits and risks of the business opportunities available to the Company. The role holder acts as a financial advisor to the Directors providing information and insights on the financial health of the Company and the various outlets and activities within it. The role holder will undertake other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Board. The FD will be the major communication conduit to and from the investors.
Job Description
- Develop and maintain a relevant suite of KPIs to track performance and identify potential issues
- Have set up MI systems to be used for board materials and to open margins
- Provide all necessary commercial, financial and /or operational analysis to help decision making across the business
- Prepare, present and review the Company budget forecasts monthly
- To attend all board meetings to present and review company P&L, balance sheet and cashflow statements
- To manage cashflow closely and communicate a 13 week STCFF each week to the board with insights and recommendations
- To develop the processes of management accounting to improve efficiency and accuracy of reporting
- To advise the management team on relevant performance targets, delivery of which collectively deliver the organisations ambitions
- Work in professional services firm / agency with understanding of importance of discretionary effort to margins and thus tolerant of minor expenditures that enable agency culture.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Board, the Chair or the CEO
- To continuously analyse all areas of the business in order to recommend beneficial changes which improve efficiency, margin, cost control, sales conversion
- To advise the Directors on the financial planning and shaping of the Company to maximize growth, profit and cashflow.
- To advise the Directors on the potential financial risks and benefits of Business plan opportunities
- To act as a financial advisor to the Directors to drive the Company’s growth plans
- To prepare fund-raising proposals and support any due diligence as and when required
- To continually enhance and develop the board pack and information within
- To ensure authority limits/ ways of working set in the investment agreement are adhered to at all times
- To ensure all investment and cost within the business has a targeted return and a measured outcome
- To develop and train the Finance team to maximise their skills and output
- To ensure the financial planning of the company stays in line with the overall strategy
- To lead the successful completion of audits as required
- To provide speedy and accurate ad-hoc financial and commercial analysis to the board on request
- To lead commercial contractual negotiations or support the client teams in doing so
- To lead on the production of utilisation, cost recovery and client profitability metrics and to support the CEO & MD in ensuring that action plans are executed that deliver continual improvements
- To be a visible leader within the business, particularly when senior colleagues are working overseas
- To strategically coach, educate and inform other team members on how to improve margins.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- 10 years experience as a Finance Director.
- Extensive experience working with PE is essential.
- Experience in driving financial strategy at board level
- Full Accountancy Qualification.
- Management and control of budgets and resources.
- Ability to create strong stakeholder relationships.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to manage others.
- Excellent levels of Excel and Word.
- Exposure to professional services companies.
- Experience of financial management in a business in rapid growth.
- Exiting and funding experience.
