Neuranics is a fast-growing fabless semiconductor company pioneering the future of magnetic sensing solutions. Based in Glasgow, we are developing cutting-edge Tunnelling Magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors that are enabling the next generation of wearables, XR, and advanced human-machine interaction.

Job Summary
As a Fractional Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the company’s financial strategy to support our ambitious growth plans. This strategic role, initially one day per week, will focus on big-picture financial leadership, helping map out dynamic financial models, scenario-based forecasts, and capital plans aligned with our key milestones and funding strategy. The successful candidate will bring a proven track record for preparing and managing investor due diligence, supporting successful Series A+ rounds, and overseeing M&A or exit processes. You will guide spending decisions across R&D, operations and commercial development, helping the executive team align burn rate and headcount with milestone-based fundraising.
This role includes supporting investor relations, producing monthly P&L and balance sheets, managing government returns (PAYE, VAT, ERS filings), and streamlining board/investor reporting. Familiarity with EMI share schemes, company bonus plans, technology licensing agreements and revenue recognition is essential, as is experience securing public R&D funding (e.g. from SE, Innovate UK or Horizon).
You will attend the office a few times per month, working closely with the C-suite and management team on strategic planning, international growth considerations, funding, maximising IP portfolio and increasing shareholder value.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust, scenario-based financial forecasts aligned with Neuranics’ strategic milestones and growth plan.
- Support in the preparation of Series A+ funding rounds, including financial due diligence, investor Q&A, and capital planning for milestone-based raises.
- Advise on aligning operational spend with funding stages to support sustainable, scalable growth.
- Deliver accurate P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, ensuring visibility of company performance to leadership and investors.
- Oversee government returns including PAYE, VAT, ERS, and Companies House filings, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Lead or support applications for R&D grants, track claims, and liaise with funding bodies.
- Administer EMI share option schemes and company bonus plans to support talent retention and company alignment.
- Provide oversight of technology licensing agreements, commercial insurance considerations, and revenue recognition models.
- Partner with leadership team to shape strategic financial decisions that enhance company and shareholder value.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ CFO experience in a high-growth technology company.
- Direct experience securing Series A or later-stage investment rounds with hands-on involvement in investor due diligence and negotiations.
- Demonstrated success in preparing for and completing mergers, acquisitions, or company exits, with a strong understanding of maximising exit valuation.
- Successful track record securing and managing UK or EU R&D grant funding.
- Based in Scotland, with the ability to attend in-person meetings in the Glasgow office a few times per month.
- Experience managing and administering EMI share option schemes and company bonus schemes.
- Familiarity with funding bodies (eg. Scottish Enterprise, Innovate UK, Horizon Europe).
Desirable
- Strong connections with corporate VCs in Europe and USA with an understanding of their technology investment strategy.
- Experience in semiconductor purchasing and selling including preparing pricing models to maximise margin.
- Experience with procuring large scale Capital Equipment and securing finance
- Experience working with Tier 1 blue chip customers.
- Ability to prioritise supply chain resiliency and optionality, supporting the creation of robust scenario plans to mitigate risks and improve long-term financial outcomes.
