Role Description
PhysNet is seeking an experienced U.S.-based finance and accounting leader to oversee the company's accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will serve as the senior finance leader within the organization and will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining a disciplined monthly close process, managing budgeting and forecasting activities, and supporting executive decision making through timely and meaningful financial analysis.
This is a highly hands-on role suited for a finance professional who enjoys operating within a lean, entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Accounting Manager and external tax and accounting advisors while helping the organization improve processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and leverage modern financial technology solutions.
The role offers direct exposure to executive leadership and organizational decision making while remaining focused on financial stewardship, accounting excellence, and operational support.
This position is fully remote with occasional travel for leadership meetings and company events.

Core Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Lead and oversee all accounting and finance activities
- Manage and mentor the Accounting Manager
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Own and manage the monthly close process
- Review reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation
- Maintain strong financial controls, documentation, and accounting practices
- Serve as the primary internal owner of the company's financial statements and reporting process
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Lead annual budgeting activities
- Oversee monthly cash flow forecasting
- Provide critical thinking and insightful analysis of KPIs
- Monitor key financial and operating metrics
- Support leadership with financial modeling and business analysis as needed
- Deliver actionable financial insights to assist decision making
Process Improvement & Technology
- Identify opportunities to improve financial workflows and reporting efficiency
- Implement practical process improvements and automation initiatives
- Utilize modern finance and accounting technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to increase efficiency and improve visibility
- Improve reporting packages, dashboards, and management reporting capabilities
- Establish scalable, documented processes that reduce reliance on key individuals
Business & Administrative Support
- Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, auditors, banking partners, and others
- Support annual tax, year-end financials preparation, and compliance processes
- Assist with insurance renewals, corporate compliance, and other administrative initiatives as needed
- Partner effectively with operations, technology, human resources, and revenue cycle leadership while remaining focused on financial stewardship
Human Resources Support (Potential Responsibility)
- Depending on organizational needs and reporting structure, provide oversight and administrative support for certain HR-related processes, vendors, benefits administration, payroll vendors, and compliance functions
- Partner with the COO and HR leadership as responsibilities evolve

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance professional who enjoys owning the finance function within a growing organization.
They are equally comfortable reviewing a reconciliation, building a budget model, preparing a forecast, improving a reporting package, or helping leadership evaluate a business decision. They are highly organized, technologically proficient, detail-oriented, and take pride in producing accurate and timely financial information.
Most importantly, they enjoy operating in a collaborative environment where they can make meaningful contributions without requiring a large staff or complex organizational structure.

Preferred Background
- 8-15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience
- Experience serving as a Controller, Senior Controller, Director of Finance, or similar leadership role
- Strong background in general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Experience within mid-sized organizations
- Experience managing monthly close processes and working directly with external accounting and tax advisors
- Proven ability to supervise accounting staff and improve financial processes
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modeling capabilities
- Experience utilizing QuickBooks online, PowerBI, automation tools, and emerging AI technologies
- Healthcare services, workers' compensation, insurance services, managed care, claims administration, professional services, or other business-to-business service experience preferred
- CPA strongly preferred
