WonderCow is a growing supplement brand founded by 7th generation farmers on a mission to share nature’s superfoods with families everywhere. We sell across DTC, Amazon, and wholesale, and we’re just getting started.

We’re looking for a part-time Controller to own the accounting function during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this individual will own the end-to-end accounting operations, including the close process, financial reporting, and internal controls.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys bringing structure to complexity. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting strategic decision-making, and building scalable processes across the organization.

Essential Job Functions:

Own and continuously improve the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Maintain the general ledger and oversee core accounting areas including revenue, inventory, COGS, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and payroll.
Reconcile all revenue channels to the GL: Shopify, Amazon and Wholesale.
Maintain inventory and COGS accounting, including landed costs and gross margin by channel and SKU, in coordination with operations.
Manage sales tax compliance and coordinate multi-state filings; track nexus and marketplace facilitator obligations.
Support cash management and rolling cash flow forecasts.
Lead and own the budgeting process for the organization.
Drive automation and process improvements to build scalable and efficient accounting operations.
Oversee accounting system integrity across ERP, inventory, and AP platforms.
Support audit readiness, lender requests, and diligence processes.
Own accounting for equity-related transactions, including stock-based compensation and other complex instruments

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications

5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership in a Controller or similar role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience owning a full close process.
Experience in high-growth, inventory-intensive environments (e.g. CPG, food & beverage, manufacturing).
Direct e-commerce and retail accounting experience across a DTC + Amazon + wholesale mix (physical product business).
Expert in QuickBooks Online: chart of accounts, classes/locations, bank rules, recurring entries, and clean close discipline.
Sales tax and multi-state nexus experience and coordination with external tax firms.
Comfortable with AI and automation in accounting workflows.
Hands-on experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting.
Experience with equity-related accounting.
Proven ability to build processes and internal controls in a scaling organization.
Strong attention to detail and ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
Strong communicator with the ability to operate cross-functionally in a small, start-up environment.
Comfortable working remotely with reliable Pacific Time overlap.
