Role Overview

LifeChoice Hospice is seeking an experienced Fractional Controller to oversee financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide financial guidance to leadership on a part-time basis.

This role is primarily remote, with periodic on-site support as needed for leadership meetings, reviews, or operational coordination. Familiarity with Illinois and Wisconsin hospice regulations is strongly preferred.

This position is intended for a senior finance professional with direct experience in hospice and healthcare finance, including Medicare reimbursement, cost reporting, internal controls, and financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting

• Lead month-end close and maintain accuracy of the general ledger
• Prepare monthly financial statements, dashboards, and trend analyses
• Monitor revenue, expenses, margins, and census-related financial performance

Hospice-Specific Finance

• Ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with Medicare hospice guidelines
• Support preparation and review of Medicare Hospice Cost Reports
• Analyze cap calculations, reimbursement exposure, and payer mix

Compliance & Controls

• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies
• Ensure compliance with CMS, Medicare, and state hospice regulations
• Prepare documentation for audit readiness and respond to audit requests

Advisory & Planning

• Serve as a financial advisor to executive leadership
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
• Identify financial risks and operational improvement opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years of healthcare finance experience, with hospice experience required
• Strong knowledge of Medicare hospice reimbursement and cost reporting
• Proficiency with accounting and financial reporting systems
• Ability to collaborate with leadership both remotely and on-site

Compensation

Compensation will be structured based on experience and scope of work.

• Hourly: $175 – $350+ per hour
• Monthly Retainer: $4,000 – $9,000 per month

Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications and agreed responsibilities.
