Role Description

The Fractional Controller is a contract, remote role responsible for overseeing key accounting and financial control functions on a part-time or project-based basis. Day-to-day work includes managing general ledger activities, reviewing journal entries, and ensuring timely and accurate month-end and quarter-end close processes. The role will support the preparation and review of financial statements, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and help maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures. The Fractional Controller will collaborate with finance leadership, external auditors, and cross-functional teams to support compliance, reporting, and process improvements. This role also involves providing strategic financial insights, identifying risks, and recommending efficiency enhancements to support the company’s growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in core accounting functions such as general ledger management, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with GAAP or relevant accounting standards.
• Skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems, spreadsheets, and financial reporting tools.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional and remote teams.
• Ability to operate independently in a contract, fractional capacity, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Relevant professional experience as a Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar finance leadership role; biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
