Chief Technology Officer

RealQuant is building the first vertical AI platform for commercial real estate — connecting underwriting, asset management, and reporting into one intelligent workflow.

We’re automating the entire deal process — from document ingestion to AI-driven underwriting, assumptions, and LOI generation — through a unified Azure-native stack and Excel-integrated experience.

We’re seeking a Fractional CTO — a hands-on ex-FAANG or top-tier startup engineering leader — to guide our architecture, mentor our distributed engineering team, and ensure world-class technical execution as we scale from MVP to production.

What You’ll Do

• Advise on and review Azure-native architecture (Functions, Container Apps, APIM, Key Vault, Postgres, AI Foundry).
• Lead code and architecture reviews across web app, APIs, and ML pipelines.
• Establish and enforce best practices for security, CI/CD, and observability.
• Mentor a US & LATAM-based engineering team on scalable design and deployment patterns.
• Guide design decisions for AI model orchestration, RAG pipelines, and LLM integration.
• Ensure platform performance goals: sub-10 s parsing, 300 ms API latency, < 1 % error rate.
• Provide strategic input on technical roadmap, hiring, and infrastructure scaling.
• Help shape long-term technical direction and architecture standards for an enterprise-grade platform built on Azure AI Foundry and Durable Functions.

Ideal Background

• 10 + years in software engineering or architecture, ideally ex FAANG or a top-tier startup.
• Top-tier education (CS or related) — e.g., Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, CMU, Cornell, or similar.
• Deep expertise with Azure and distributed, production-grade cloud systems.
• Strong command of TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, React, and scalable data architecture.
• Proven experience mentoring global or multilingual teams (Portuguese or Spanish a plus).
• Pragmatic, outcome-driven leadership with strong communication and documentation skills.

Compensation & Setup

• $100 – 150 / hr
• 5 - 10 hrs / week, flexible schedule (async + EST overlap)
• Long-term advisory role with potential for equity or performance-based incentives.
