About Us
We’re building something new..for the growing global network of Nomads, Remote Workers and Wanderers. Think Trip Advisor meets Instagram.
We’re calling it a “social travel directory” which combines the power and relevance of a social graph, with a highly curated merchant map, events (retreats, meetups, conferences, etc) and a host of other features that are location centric.
We’re Seed-stage, with a team of 10, primarily Engineering, Design and Product.
About the Work
We have a team of great IC engineers, but we're missing leadership, mentorship, and accountability. We're looking for a Fractional CTO to help take our engineering team to the next level, and make the tough necessary decisions to ensure we don’t galaxy brain this product and turn it into Technical Spaghetti.
Specifically, you'll:
- Manage 4 engineers, keeping them running in the same direction, and act as a sounding board for them
- Instill engineering best practices, practical decision-making, and a bias towards speed
- Hire new engineers as needed
- Work with the CEO directly
This is not a coding role, but you should be very comfortable with our tech stack:
- Svelte web frontend
- React Native mobile
- Go backend
- AWS
- We heavily leverage the Nostr social protocol for identity management
About You
You should meet all of the following criteria:
- 10+ years as an engineer in coding or managerial capacities
- Have been a CTO, Head of Engineering, or Engineering Manager at other early and growth stage tech startups
- If most of your work has been in large, corporate environments, this won't be a fit
- No agencies, independent contractors only
Nice-to-have:
- Worked in startups in the fintech, consumer social, travel, etc. spaces
- Interest in Bitcoin and it's principles
- Interest in travel / nomading / wanderer movement
