The Company
We sell premium, high price-point saunas direct to consumer, through our own eCommerce store.
Stage & proof points:
- $10 - $20M annual revenue
- Fully bootstrapped
The Work
We're now progressing into building our own firmware and app, so the hardware, software, and data are ours instead of a third party's. We're looking for a Fractional CTO that can establish our engineering function and lead these efforts.
Specifically, you'll:
- Build the product roadmap that takes us from a third-party app to our own. The app will combine three separate experiences:
- sauna controls
- red light therapy
- our digital community product
- Design custom firmware with our Chinese manufacturer, then test and implement it across our sauna models
- Ideally build the MVP mobile app yourself, or bring in a sub-contractor
- Hire additional engineers as needed
- Propose and then own the budget in order to be successful
- Work most closely with our founder / CEO
About You
You MUST have:
- Been CTO or similar Engineering leader at a company that built its own connected hardware product, owning firmware, software, and the app together
- Significant firmware and hardware expertise specifically, including design, testing, working with manufacturers, etc.
- If you are a software-focused CTO, we won't be the right fit
- Experience managing a budget, and building out the engineering function from scratch
Nice-to-haves:
- Worked on health and wellness hardware products specifically
- Handled health data under HIPAA
- Worked with Chinese IoT firmware suppliers
- Capable of building the MVP mobile app yourself
- Bootstrapped startup experience
