About the Role
Psylo is rapidly expanding, and has recently established a new North American headquarters in Boulder, Colorado, with an Australian subsidiary company headquartered in Sydney. Psylo seeks an experienced fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and leading development of their financial systems. As the CFO, you will develop our financial vision and oversee our financial health as a company. This executive leadership position requires an adaptable seasoned finance professional with a CPA designation, with extensive experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, and a record of successfully supporting early-stage biotech companies with varied funding sources (dilutive and non-dilutive) and the financial complexities of venture fundraising, corporate partnerships, and out-licensing.
Location: Remote. Candidate must be able to work across time zones with team members in Australia and Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the financial strategy in alignment with the company's overall business objectives, contributing to our growth and success
- Provide strategic financial direction for the leadership team and support decision-making through modeling, planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting process
- Lead the global operational team in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure spend remains within budget, safeguard company assets, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting while building operational efficiency for a lean but mighty team
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and others as needed, ensure compliance and facilitate smooth audits
- Support (in collaboration with CEO) any capital raising or transactional activities and management of CoSec, Shareholder and Board processes
- Qualifications
- Credentials in Finance, Accounting, or related field along with a CPA (mandatory)
- 10+ years experience in an executive financial role like CFO or fractional CFO, with at least 7 years of experience within the biotech industry – comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements for reporting in the biotech industry
- Leadership experience with financial and operational teams to drive strategic financial initiatives and maturity of operational systems
- Experience supporting capital raising/transactional activities and shareholder processes
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and advocate for your ideas across levels and roles within our team
- Cross-border experience working with globally distributed teams
