Position Overview

We seek a Fractional CFO who will support Modern Sprout’s financial health by offering strategic financial planning, reporting, and decision-making expertise on a fractional basis. This role is essential for guiding the company’s growth through sound financial management and operational strategy. The Fractional CFO will report directly to the founders and work closely with the leadership team. This position is expected to require 5 hours per week with flexibility in scheduling based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
• Managing cash flow and liquidity
• Overseeing budgeting and forecasting
• Preparing and presenting financial statements and reports to leadership and stakeholders.
• Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.
• Reviewing and managing financial risks.
• Mentoring key accounting and leadership team members and developing their skillsets
• Managing insurance needs and provider relations as required

Our Ideal Candidate

• Comfortable working in a scrappy, fast-paced environment led by creative founders, balancing financial discipline with a focus on growth and innovation
• Proven experience as a CFO, preferably in a consumer goods company or related field
• Strong understanding of financial management in manufacturing and retail, including cost accounting
• CPA, MBA, or similar relevant certification is highly preferred
• Experience with both wholesale and direct-to-consumer financial structures
• Green thumb is a plus

Benefits

Compensation for this fractional role will be structured as hourly, monthly, or per-project rates, based on mutual agreement.
