About DiversyFund

DiversyFund is a private-markets investment and financial technology company with approximately a decade of operating history across real estate investing, investor relations, capital formation, asset management, compliance, and financial operations.

We are now entering our next stage: transforming the technology we have built internally into an AI-native platform designed to operate and scale investment-management businesses.

Our target is clear:

Commercial launch in January 2027.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Fractional Chief Engineering & Scale Officer with the technical depth, entrepreneurial mindset, and execution ability of a technical founder.

DiversyFund already has a Chief Technology Officer who serves as our Chief Architect and technical visionary. He has exceptional technical depth across AI, data, software, and emerging technologies and has architected and built much of our proprietary platform.

This role is designed to complement him—not replace or duplicate him.

Our CTO’s highest-value contribution is continuing to drive architecture, technical vision, AI innovation, and the most difficult engineering problems.

Our next challenge is scaling the organization around that technical foundation.

We need another senior technical leader who can partner directly with our CTO and CEO to:

  • Build and scale the engineering team
  • Translate architecture into an executable roadmap
  • Establish engineering and project-management discipline
  • Create clear ownership and accountability
  • Accelerate recruiting and onboarding
  • Distribute technical knowledge across the engineering organization
  • Drive QA, production readiness, and release execution
  • Get the platform commercially ready for January 2027

Think of this as adding another technical-founder-caliber executive to the table—but with a different superpower.

Our CTO owns architecture and technical vision.

You own engineering scale and execution.

Together, you will build the organization capable of turning that vision into a market-ready product.

Your Mission

Your mission is straightforward:

Build the engineering machine capable of taking DiversyFund’s platform to market in January 2027.

You will help turn:

Vision → Architecture → Roadmap → Team → Execution → QA → Production → Commercial Launch

This is not a traditional project-management position.

We need someone technical enough to earn the immediate respect of exceptional engineers, entrepreneurial enough to operate like a founder, and operational enough to turn a small technical organization into a scalable engineering team.

What You’ll Own

  1. Build the Engineering Team — Fast
One of your highest priorities will be rapidly increasing our engineering capacity.
    You will:
    • Assess our current engineering organization and capabilities
    • Identify the talent required to reach January 2027
    • Design the engineering organization and hiring sequence
    • Create technical scorecards for priority positions
    • Source, interview, and evaluate exceptional engineers
    • Partner with our CTO on technical interviews
    • Recruit AI, full-stack, data, infrastructure, DevOps, QA, and other talent as required
    • Rapidly onboard engineers into the existing architecture
    • Establish clear technical ownership across the team
    • Reduce single-person dependencies across critical systems
We are not looking to build a bloated engineering department.
We want a small, elite, AI-native engineering organization with extremely high output per person.
  2. Turn Architecture Into Execution
Our CTO remains the Chief Architect and technical authority.
Your responsibility is to help turn that architecture into an executable engineering system.
    You will establish and manage:
    • Engineering roadmap
    • Workstreams and technical owners
    • Development milestones
    • Dependencies
    • Sprint structure
    • Estimates and committed dates
    • Resource allocation
    • QA
    • Release discipline
    • Production readiness
    • Documentation
    • Delivery accountability
At any moment, leadership should be able to answer:
What are we building? Who owns it? Where is it? What’s blocking it? When will it ship?
  3. Create Leverage Around the CTO
A major measure of success will be allowing our CTO to spend increasingly more time on the technical work where he creates the greatest value.
You will absorb and systematize much of the organizational work surrounding engineering, including:
    • Recruiting
    • Team management
    • Project coordination
    • Engineering follow-up
    • Status reporting
    • Resource management
    • Cross-functional coordination
    • Delivery management
    • Documentation
    • Production readiness
    The objective is simple:
Multiply the CTO’s technical capabilities across an engineering organization.
  4. Build Technical Knowledge Across the Organization
Technical knowledge and decision-making are currently concentrated within a small team.
As we scale, that knowledge needs to become institutional.
You will work with our CTO and engineers to establish:
    • Architecture documentation
    • System maps
    • Technical specifications
    • Development documentation
    • Code and engineering standards
    • Recorded technical sessions
    • Runbooks
    • Engineering onboarding
    • Architecture reviews
    • Clear system ownership
This is not about creating bureaucracy.
It is about creating organizational leverage, continuity, and speed.
  5. Drive January 2027 Product Readiness
You will help own the execution plan between now and commercial launch.
The product needs to systematically move through:
Build → Integration → QA → Internal Use → Beta → Production → Commercial Launch
    Every critical workstream should have:
Owner + Scope + Dependencies + Milestones + Date + Definition of Done
You will identify the critical path to launch and surface risks early enough to solve them.
We don’t want to discover that a deadline is slipping when the deadline arrives.
  6. Bridge Founder Vision and Engineering Execution
    DiversyFund is founder-led.
Our CEO operates from business problems, customer needs, workflows, products, competitive advantage, revenue opportunities, and long-term vision.
Our CTO translates that vision into architecture and technical solutions.
Your role is to help turn those two inputs into organized engineering execution at scale.
You should be comfortable discussing business strategy with the CEO and then immediately moving into a technical conversation with the CTO and engineering team.

Clear Division of Responsibilities

CTO / Chief Architect

Our existing CTO continues to own:

  • Core technical architecture
  • Technical vision
  • AI architecture and technical direction
  • Major architectural decisions
  • Deep technical innovation
  • Complex engineering problem-solving
  • Technical standards in partnership with this role

Fractional Chief Engineering & Scale Officer

You will primarily own:

  • Engineering organizational scale
  • Recruiting and team building
  • Engineering management
  • Project and program execution
  • Roadmap execution
  • Delivery cadence
  • Resource allocation
  • Cross-functional coordination
  • QA and production readiness
  • Release discipline
  • Documentation and knowledge transfer
  • Leadership visibility
  • January 2027 execution

This should be a partnership, not a power struggle.

The right candidate will recognize the technical capability already inside DiversyFund and immediately think:

“How do I build the organization around this so we can move 5–10x faster?”

This Is NOT Just Project Management

Although execution and project management are major components of this role, we are not looking for a project manager.

You must have enough technical depth to earn the respect of strong engineers.

You should be capable of:

  • Understanding sophisticated software architecture
  • Understanding modern AI/LLM systems
  • Participating meaningfully in technical design discussions
  • Understanding APIs and data architecture
  • Challenging engineering estimates
  • Evaluating technical talent
  • Understanding infrastructure and deployment
  • Identifying technical risks
  • Reviewing technical designs
  • Prototyping when necessary
  • Reviewing code when appropriate

Our CTO should be able to communicate with you peer-to-peer technically, while you take significant organizational and execution weight off the engineering function.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has the mindset of someone who has built or scaled a technology company before.

Your background may include:

  • Technical Founder / Co-Founder
  • VP Engineering
  • Head of Engineering
  • CTO
  • Founding Engineer
  • Principal Engineer who transitioned into leadership
  • Senior technology executive within an early-stage AI company

Titles matter less than what you have actually built and scaled.

We strongly prefer someone who has personally experienced the transition from:

A few brilliant builders → Engineering Team → Product Organization → Commercial Scale

What You Bring

  • Deep technical background in software engineering and architecture
  • Strong current understanding of AI, LLMs, agents, and AI-native software development
  • Experience building and scaling engineering teams
  • Exceptional technical recruiting ability
  • Strong engineering and project-management discipline
  • Experience taking products from architecture through production
  • Ability to establish accountability without creating corporate bureaucracy
  • Experience operating in founder-led environments
  • Strong product and commercial instincts
  • Ability to communicate equally well with founders and engineers
  • High urgency and strong bias toward execution

Strongly Preferred

  • Former technical founder or founding engineer
  • Built an engineering organization from the ground up
  • AI-native startup experience
  • SaaS or platform experience
  • Fintech, investment management, proptech, or financial-services experience
  • Experience commercializing internally developed technology
  • Experience taking a product from early development through market launch

Who This Role Is NOT For

This is not the right position for:

  • A traditional corporate CIO
  • A pure project manager
  • A management consultant
  • An AI strategist without deep engineering experience
  • Someone who requires a large organization underneath them to execute
  • Someone primarily interested in creating processes and meetings
  • Someone who has been removed from hands-on technology for years
  • Someone who wants to replace existing architecture simply to establish authority

Low ego is essential.

You are coming in to multiply an existing technical advantage—not compete with it.

First 30 Days

Understand. Organize. Recruit.

  • Deep dive with CEO and CTO
  • Understand the existing architecture, product, systems, roadmap, and engineering organization
  • Map current engineering initiatives and dependencies
  • Establish the critical path to January 2027
  • Create a single engineering roadmap and delivery system
  • Determine immediate engineering talent gaps
  • Create hiring scorecards and begin recruiting
  • Establish a lightweight weekly engineering execution cadence

Outcome: Everyone understands what must happen between now and January, who owns it, what talent we need, and how progress will be measured.

Days 31–60

Build the Team. Accelerate Execution.

  • Recruit and onboard priority engineering talent
  • Distribute technical ownership across engineers
  • Establish sprint and release cadence
  • Begin systematic technical knowledge transfer
  • Move priority platform components toward production
  • Establish QA and production-readiness processes
  • Track execution directly against the January launch plan

Outcome: Engineering velocity increases materially and technical capability begins scaling across the organization.

Days 61–90

Scale the Machine.

  • Core engineering organization functioning
  • Clear technical ownership across systems
  • CTO increasingly focused on architecture and high-value technical work
  • Engineering roadmap operating predictably
  • Documentation and knowledge transfer established
  • QA and release processes functioning
  • Product moving aggressively toward beta and commercialization

Outcome: DiversyFund begins transitioning from relying on individual technical horsepower to operating as a scalable engineering organization.

How We Measure Success

Success isn’t measured by meetings, reports, or processes.

It’s measured by:

  • Engineering talent recruited
  • Engineering capacity increased
  • Development velocity increased
  • Technical knowledge distributed
  • Clear ownership established
  • Delivery dates becoming predictable
  • Production quality improving
  • CTO spending more time on high-value architecture and innovation
  • Product milestones shipping
  • Critical path remaining on schedule
  • Commercial product ready for January 2027 go-to-market

Working Style

DiversyFund is founder-led, fast-moving, and ambitious.

We’re looking for someone who is:

Technical. Entrepreneurial. Hands-on. Low ego. Highly accountable. Resourceful. Intense about execution.

We want someone who approaches the opportunity with a founder’s mindset—not a fractional consultant’s mindset.

You see a gap—you solve it.

You need an engineer—you find one.

The team needs clarity—you create it.

A deadline is at risk—you surface it early and develop a solution.

Something is slowing execution—you figure out how to remove it.

The question should always be:

“What does the team need to execute this vision faster?”

Engagement

Fractional / Contract Executive

Approximately 15–20 hours per week initially, with the ability to scale with the needs of the business.

San Diego-based candidates strongly preferred. Hybrid.

This role has the potential to evolve as DiversyFund’s technology platform and engineering organization grow.

Target commercial launch: January 2027.
