Our firm is growing quickly and is looking to drive continued growth through client expansion with the addition of a fractional Chief Commercial Officer.
About the Role
The fractional Chief Commercial Officer role’s primary focus will be to drive revenue generation, business growth, and profitability. This role involves leading sales/business development and marketing teams, identifying new opportunities, refining the brand strategy, sharpening targeted sales strategy, and analyzing performance data. The CCO works closely with senior leadership to ensure commercial goals are aligned with the company's overall objectives.
Responsibilities
- Commercial and revenue strategy: Develop and implement consistent brand messaging and effective targeted sales strategies that meet or exceed revenue growth targets. This involves identifying market opportunities, defining target markets, and creating plans to maximize revenue.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work in a highly collaborative manner with market, practice and corporate leadership to ensure consistent buy-in and achievement of results.
- Marketing and sales: Overall management of the sales and marketing functions. This includes:
- Marketing:
- Developing marketing plans, setting targets and objectives, monitoring performance, and implementing effective marketing strategies.
- Oversee all marketing and advertising initiatives, including communications, public relations, promotions, targeted in person events, and digital marketing.
- Lead brand management, developing the company's messaging, and ensuring consistency across all channels.
- Utilize market research to inform strategy, understand customer behavior, and analyze the competitive landscape.
- Monitor and leverage customer satisfaction information for marketing efforts.
- Create marketing operations function and hire full-time marketing manager to execute and continue to evolve marketing operations.
- Deliver performance analysis and reporting, Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data, and provide regular reports to the executive leadership team and the board on commercial performance. This includes:
- Monitoring industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to identify emerging opportunities and potential threats.
- Gathering market intelligence, conducting market research, and using data-driven insights to make informed decisions.
- Sales:
- Developing sales plans, setting targets and objectives, monitoring performance, and implementing effective sales strategies.
- Identifying potential markets, evaluating expansion options, and negotiating strategic alliances or acquisitions to drive business growth.
- Lead and scale sales, business development, with practice and market leadership to generate leads, penetrate new markets, and close deals.
- Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships to expand market reach and capabilities.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience as a Chief Commercial Officer or market and revenue generation leader at a professional services firm preferably with a focus on consulting to the financial services industry.
- Experience creating and managing brand development and growth strategies for professional services firms.
- Strong understanding of consulting revenue generation strategies, market trends and business models.
- Ability to drive growth through marketing channels, sales processes, and new revenue streams.
- Develop effective strategies and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent skills in leading teams, negotiating, and communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to manage matrixed teams across the organization to meet revenue targets.
- East coast location preferred. Work is remote with occasional trips to meet the leadership on the east coast.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Business, Finance, or Marketing
Pay range and compensation package
Clarendon Partners is willing to pay “market rate” and open to discussing an incentive component.
