About Us
We're building authorization infrastructure for regulated AI actions, starting in healthcare. Our platform sits between AI agents and the actions they take, gating each one against current policy and producing a signed, auditable record that compliance teams and regulators can use to verify exactly what was authorized, when, and on what basis.
We're an early-stage startup with our first regulated workflow under active development and core IP in the patenting process.
About the Work
We're working with a dev shop to build the authorization layer that gates AI actions in regulated workflows, and we need senior architectural oversight to make sure it's being built right. We're looking for a Fractional Architect to make sure we're building everything correctly the first time.
Specifically, you'll:
- Guide the architecture across governance, mediation, and verification: governance decisions, authorization artifacts, execution gates, execution receipts, and verification chains
- Keep current engineering teams aligned on a shared architecture as core platform components ship
- Design the execution gate where outbound actions are blocked unless valid authorization is present
- Ensure the architecture remains portable to other regulated verticals beyond the Phase 1 healthcare use case
- Review what's being built against the broader pattern of control plane and data plane separation, fail-closed execution, and tamper-evident evidence chains
Tech stack (still being finalized):
- TypeScript / Node for API services
- Python for policy, model, and inference work
- Postgres or similar
About You
You MUST have:
- Architected authorization, control plane, or policy enforcement infrastructure
- You may have worked at companies like HashiCorp (Vault, Boundary), Okta, Auth0, Cloudflare, AWS, Stripe payments/risk, Sigstore, Chainguard, or comparable high-assurance defense or aerospace systems
- Experience working with outside dev shops
- Comfortable playing an architect role where you're guiding implementation and reviewing for quality
- Can communicate architectural decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including compliance teams and regulators
- Based anywhere in the world, but have significant overlap with USA time zones
