We are seeking a Part-Time AML Compliance Officer (AMLCO) whose primary function is to serve as the firm's regulatory and banking liaison for FinCEN MSB obligations and U.S. Money Transmitter Licensing (MTL) requirements. This role is primarily client-facing and stakeholder-facing, supporting regulatory communications, bank onboarding, and compliance documentation readiness. Day-to-day AML operations are handled by internal teams; the AMLCO provides oversight, sign-off support where appropriate, and ensures the compliance program remains regulator- and bank-ready.
Note: This role is not the SAR signing officer. The AMLCO will ensure SAR processes and escalation workflows are documented and functioning, but filings/signatures are handled by designated internal personnel..

Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for FinCEN-related inquiries, periodic reviews, and MSB program discussions.
- Support Money Transmitter Licensing (MTL) compliance, including coordination of regulatory filings, renewals, and responses to state-level requests (with support from internal teams and/or external counsel).
- Serve as the compliance contact for banking partners during account opening, due diligence refreshes, and ongoing compliance check-ins.
- Maintain and provide key compliance documentation packs as required by regulators and banks (e.g., AML Program overview, EWRA summary, policy excerpts, training records, independent testing reports).
- Coordinate with external counsel/consultants on licensing questions, regulatory interpretation, or bank partner requirements.
- Provide periodic compliance updates to senior management and escalate material regulatory issues when identified.

Requirements
- 3+ years of AML/BSA compliance experience in MSB, payments, fintech, crypto, or banking.
- Working knowledge of U.S. MSB regulatory requirements (FinCEN) and familiarity with Money Transmitter Licensing (MTL) concepts.
- Experience supporting bank onboarding / banking partner due diligence and ability to respond to compliance questionnaires.
- Strong documentation and communication skills; comfortable engaging with regulators, banks, and external counsel.
- Ability to operate independently with a pragmatic, low-bureaucracy approach.

Preferred Qualifications
- CAMS or equivalent certification.
- Prior experience as AMLCO/MLRO, or as a senior AML manager acting as regulatory point of contact.

Compensation
Hourly rate or monthly retainer, commensurate with experience and scope.
