Role Overview

We are looking for a practical, execution-focused AI/ML Engineer to take ownership of our AI layer. This is a part-time role (~20 hours/week) focused on improving and scaling existing AI features rather than building from scratch.

This role is ideal for someone who:

• Can quickly understand existing systems
• Is comfortable working with imperfect real-world data
• Focuses on delivering usable product features (not just models)

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve existing AI features: * Property Risk Scoring * AI Investment Advisor (LLM-based analysis) * ROI and forecasting logic
• Work with structured + semi-structured real estate data (ATTOM, Mashvisor)
• Optimize model performance, cost, and response time
• Improve data quality handling and fallback logic
• Collaborate closely with the full-stack developer on integration
• Support rollout of new AI features over time

Requirements

• 3+ years experience in applied AI/ML (production environment preferred)
• Strong Python skills
• Experience with: * LLMs / prompt engineering / AI APIs * Data modeling, feature engineering * Working with APIs and real-world datasets
• Ability to work independently and take ownership
• Strong product mindset (focus on outcomes, not just models)

Nice to Have

• Experience with real estate, fintech, or analytics platforms
• Familiarity with AWS (or similar cloud environments)
• Experience optimizing AI cost (tokens, API usage, caching)
