Role Description

The Fractional Wearables Lead is a part-time, hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, with flexibility for some work from home. This role will guide the wearable device strategy, overseeing product requirements, hardware and sensor selection, and integration with the EEG monitoring platform. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with engineering and clinical teams, reviewing prototype performance, and helping define usability, comfort, and reliability standards for the wearable patch. The person in this position will support vendor selection, collaborate on regulatory and quality considerations, and contribute to timelines for iterative testing and refinement. The role also involves translating user and clinical feedback into clear product improvements and supporting high-level roadmap planning for future wearable features.

Qualifications

• Experience in wearable device development, including consumer or medical-grade hardware and sensors.
• Background in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field; experience with neurotech or EEG-based systems is a strong plus.
• Understanding of usability, ergonomics, and human-centered design for body-worn devices.
• Familiarity with medical device lifecycle, including prototyping, testing, and collaboration with regulatory and quality teams.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, and clinical stakeholders and to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Comfort working in a startup environment, with strong organizational skills and the ability to operate independently in a fractional capacity.
• Prior experience with epilepsy, neurology, or digital health products is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
