Armillaria is the parent company of an integrated platform emerging from the convergence of two proven tools:

• The Innovation Exchange (IeX) – connecting people, projects, and organisations with
  opportunities to scale impact
• NeedsList – matching urgent community needs with aligned offers from NGOs,
  corporates, and governments

The Innovation Exchange is the evolution of several different platforms the co-founders have Together, these tools are evolving into a unified interface for global cooperation—serving NGOs, funders, entrepreneurs, and communities alike.

The Role

We’re seeking a Fractional Head of Product (or experienced Product Lead) to work closely with the CEO to:

• Refine a clear, coherent, and compelling product vision and strategy
  - Oversee UX/UI design and manage the engineering cycle over a six-month sprint
• Bridge short-term execution with long-term systems ambition

This isn’t a traditional PM role—it’s a strategic, systems-oriented leadership role disguised as a product one. You may never have held a “Head of Product” title before. That’s fine. We care more about what you’ve shipped, what you’ve broken, and what you’ve learned. If you’ve worked on distributed systems, data protocols, regenerative infrastructure, or decentralised tech (e.g. Holochain, Regen Network, Dark Matter Labs, Project Drawdown), this is likely to feel familiar.

You’ll be the key translator between vision and execution—and potentially, the person who defines the next era of distributed digital infrastructure for the impact economy. We know our scope and vision is huge, and we recognise that nobody can do everything by themselves. As a team we will co-design the role to fit the person, and work together to find other amazing team members to fill the gaps that remain.

Key Responsibilities

We already have development resources ready to execute the strategy, and will work together as a team to spin up the ideal product support system to execute. We have a real budget, and need your insight to put it to the best use:

• Co-develop a unified product vision and strategic roadmap for Impact.IQ- Translate that strategy into a prioritised design + development backlog in alignment with capital and capacity constraints
• Oversee UX/UI design: workflows, wireframes, prototyping, and documentation
• Manage engineering handoff and sprint cycles (with distributed dev teams in Kosovo and other regions)
• Define and refine core user flows, data models, and interoperability logic
• Ensure the short-term roadmap reflects commercial priorities (ARR growth, funder deliverables)
• Support evaluation and integration of AI tools for code generation, data enrichment, and user interaction
• Shape the architecture transition from centralised Web2 stack to a distributed data layer (Holochain), in collaboration with our existing partners

What We’re Looking For

Someone with a deep awareness of the metacrisis, and is looking for an opportunity to make measurable, meaningful, systemic impact:

• A T-shaped product thinker: broad across product, deep in data strategy,
  interoperability, and systems architecture
• Strong experience working on platforms for NGOs, multilateral orgs, or multi-sided ecosystems
• Able to navigate the theory of change + tech stack intersection—and build a viable roadmap from it
• Proven ability to design and ship complex products under time and budget constraints
• Comfortable leading remote, multicultural, multi-timezone teams
• You know how to write clear, actionable specifications and break complex systems into buildable units
• You’ve probably failed at least once—and know what went wrong and what it taught you

• Familiarity with:
  
  • Decentralised data architectures (esp. Holochain)
  • AI-assisted development (prompt engineering, code generation, agent-based tools)
  • Web2-to-Web3 transitions
  • Data sovereignty and ethical data use

• Bonus: experience with humanitarian logistics, impact measurement, or protocol governance
• Optional but valuable: Computer science background. If you're technical enough to write code or lead an engineering sprint, you’ll thrive here. Even if you are not a computer scientists (it's great if you are!), a deep understanding of digital products and how different technologies work will be necessary to fully thrive in this role

We’ve built a working product. We have live clients. And we’re attracting major interest from funders and strategic partners. But we lack a coherent product strategy that can guide us through the next phase of development.

We’ve seen too many beautiful portfolios that lead to broken systems. This isn’t that.
Your portfolio doesn’t need to be beautiful. Your product needs to work.
We’re balancing two tensions:

• Deliver a commercially viable, Web2-based integrated product stack in the next 6 months
• Lay the architectural and conceptual foundation for a distributed, protocol-based future

You’ll be the person who can hold that paradox—and turn it into progress.
