CourseCREEK is a growing education-technology company focused on scalable learning solutions. We are rapidly growing at 26% a year. We’re seeking an experienced fractional Controller & Bookkeeper to maintain clean books, manage QuickBooks, deliver monthly financial reporting, and partner with leadership on financial operations and deal support.
Role Overview:
The Fractional Controller & Bookkeeper will do bookkeeping, maintain QuickBooks, produce monthly financial statements and revenue reports, and support the CEO with financial analysis and sales enablement (ROI modeling and deal presentations). This is a strategic, hands‑on role ideal for a seasoned finance professional who prefers a fractional, remote engagement with a rapidly growing EdTech services company.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain bookkeeping: journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- QuickBooks administration and management.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and revenue reports; present findings to the CEO (on demand and monthly).
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor and optimize company expenses and cost structure.
- Assist CEO and Sales team with ROI analyses, pricing scenarios, and financial materials to win strategic accounts in team calls with clients.
- Coordinate with the external accounting firm.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting/finance roles (Controller, Senior Accountant, fractional CFO, or similar); experience with SMBs, SaaS, or EdTech preferred.
- Strong bookkeeping and month‑end close experience.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and common invoicing/payment platforms.
- Solid financial planning & analysis skills: modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present complex financial information clearly.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable with remote collaboration.
- Comfortable working independently and as a strategic partner to the CEO.
Desired / Nice‑to‑Have
- Prior experience with start‑ups, growth‑stage companies, or EdTech/eLearning businesses.
- Familiarity with subscription/SaaS revenue recognition and metrics (MRR, ARR, churn).
- Experience implementing financial systems and scalable processes.
- Ability to support sales conversations and contribute to commercial strategy.
