Summary:
FHG is seeking a part-time Controller to lead and evolve our finance and accounting functions. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role working closely with the CEO and Director of Administration, with direct responsibility for financial reporting and Board-level materials.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in SaaS accounting, revenue recognition, financial modeling, and scaling financial operations in a high-growth environment. In addition to strengthening core accounting and compliance functions, this individual will play a key role in developing pricing models and revenue strategies for our software products. Hybrid work is available, with periodic onsite engagement required.

What You'll Do:
- Lead all accounting and finance operations, ensuring GAAP compliance, accuracy, and timely close.
- Provide oversight and direction to a staff accountant responsible for billing, accounts payable, payroll, and preparing draft financial statements for review.
- Lead the monthly close process and prepare financial statements, KPIs, revenue forecasts, and Board materials.
- Build financial models, projections, and scenario analyses to support strategic decisions.
- Establish scalable processes, policies, and internal controls.
- Oversee SaaS revenue recognition, product profitability, and pricing strategy.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with client finance teams to support collaboration, information flow, and financial operations.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions.
- Coordinate multi-state compliance and reporting requirements.
- Serve as primary liaison to external tax advisors and ensure timely tax filings.
- Oversee equity accounting and shareholder records (Carta platform).
- Prepare for and manage financial reviews or audits.
- Partner with leadership on growth strategy, capital planning, and operational performance.
- Present financial insights to executive leadership and the Board.

The Know How's:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related fields; CPA strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller or senior finance leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience scaling financial operations in a high-growth company, experience in SaaS, technology, or software environments strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition, software capitalization standards, and SaaS-specific accounting and tax considerations.
- Experience in designing pricing models and financial strategies for subscription-based software products.
- Experience in health care or health care analytics industries is preferred.
- Familiarity with multi-state compliance requirements for distributed teams and client bases is preferred.
- Experience preparing for or managing audits or financial reviews.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership and Boards.
- Proficiency with accounting and financial systems; experience with Carta is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a part-time capacity while balancing strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with required in-person participation.
