Role Description

The Fractional Controller role is a contract, remote position responsible for overseeing key financial management and reporting activities on a part-time or project-based basis. Day-to-day tasks include managing the general ledger, preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, and ensuring accuracy in accounting records. The role involves monitoring cash flow, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and supporting financial planning for leadership. The Fractional Controller will review and improve internal controls, support compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and coordinate with external accountants or auditors as needed. This position also provides financial analysis and recommendations to help guide operational and strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including experience with general ledger management, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
• Demonstrated ability in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Experience improving internal controls, managing compliance with regulatory and tax requirements, and working with auditors or external accounting partners.
• Proficiency with accounting and finance software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar), and advanced skills in spreadsheets and financial modeling.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote, contract environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or a regulated industry is beneficial.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience in a Controller or senior finance role is preferred.
