Controller

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Controller (fractional) to oversee AllCalls.io’s financial operations and ensure accuracy, compliance, and scalability as the company grows. This role owns the financial backbone of a multi-state, transaction-heavy SaaS and marketplace platform.

You will be responsible for maintaining financial controls, managing compliance across jurisdictions, and serving as the operational bridge between internal teams, payroll providers, and external CPAs.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Controls

• Own and maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and month-end close
• Ensure accurate tracking of revenue, costs, margins, refunds, and chargebacks
• Oversee internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial documentation
• Review and analyze financial transactions for accuracy and consistency

Tax, Payroll & Compliance

• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax authorities
• Oversee quarterly and annual tax filings (income, payroll, withholding, unemployment, etc.)
• Manage multi-state registrations and ongoing compliance requirements
• Coordinate with payroll providers to ensure accurate wage reporting and filings
• Monitor nexus exposure and flag new compliance requirements as the company expands

External & Internal Coordination

• Act as primary point of contact for external CPAs, auditors, and tax advisors
• Support audits, reviews, and due diligence requests
• Partner with leadership on financial reporting, forecasting, and process improvements
• Identify and proactively resolve gaps in compliance or financial operations

Systems & Process Ownership

• Oversee accounting workflows across payments, subscriptions, and real-time transactions
• Ensure financial data integrity between accounting systems, payment processors, and internal platforms
• Improve scalability and automation of accounting and reporting processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or 5–7+ years of relevant experience
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP (CPA preferred but not required)
• Experience with multi-state tax and payroll compliance
• Familiarity with high-volume transaction environments (SaaS, marketplaces, fintech, payments, or lead marketplaces)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (reconciliations, reporting, analysis)
• Experience coordinating with payroll providers and external CPAs
• Strong written, verbal, and cross-functional communication skills
• Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating with limited oversight

• Experience with SaaS or marketplace revenue models
• Exposure to chargebacks, refunds, and payment processor reconciliation
• Experience working with engineering-driven or tech-forward teams
• Prior fractional or startup-stage controller experience
