Position Overview
fan3 has successfully raised $2 million in seed funding and is now preparing for a Series A funding round. We are seeking a passionate and experienced fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team. This role will be instrumental in supporting the strategic direction of the company, aligning our story telling with supporting financial models, optimizing our commercial models, and leading our fundraising strategy.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of guiding startups from Seed to Series A, with a deep understanding of the financial and operational challenges in scaling a tech-driven company. An interest or experience in the music, entertainment, or popular culture sectors is essential, as is a passion for innovation and disruption in these fields.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO and Leadership team to refine and execute the company’s strategic roadmap and current story, ensuring alignment with our long-term vision and growth objectives.
- Fundraising Strategy: Lead the preparation and execution of our Series A fundraising round, including developing investor pitch decks, financial models, and strategic narratives that resonate with potential investors. Supporting in preparation of the data room and diligence checklist.
- Financial Modeling and Analysis: Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models that support decision-making and highlight key financial metrics. Provide insights into revenue projections, cost management, and capital allocation.
- Operational Oversight: Support the Founding team in overseeing the operational aspects of the business, ensuring that all functions are aligned with our strategic goals. This includes refining processes, implementing best practices, and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Commercial Strategy: Work closely with the Founders and CTO to optimize revenue streams, explore new business models, and identify growth opportunities within the music and entertainment sectors.
- Investor Relations: Serve as a point of contact for current and potential investors, providing regular updates on the company’s financial performance and strategic milestones. Making introductions to new investors focused on Series A funding. Delicate guidance on evaluating terms and negotiating timelines and offers.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks, ensuring the company’s long-term sustainability and growth.
Experience
- Proven experience as a CFO, COO, or in a senior financial/operational role within a startup, with a successful track record of raising capital from Seed to Series A.
- Strong understanding of financial planning, forecasting, and analysis in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Deep expertise in fundraising, including crafting compelling investor narratives and pitch decks. Understanding the art of storytelling and presenting platforms that can scale.
- Experience in the music, entertainment, or popular culture industries is highly desirable.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive growth and operational excellence.
- A strong network within the investment community, particularly with VCs and angel investors focused on tech and entertainment sectors.
- Self-starter and challenger mindset with a passion for innovation, creativity, and disruption.
