Role Description
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a part-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, responsible for leading all marketing and brand growth initiatives for College Cubbies. We are looking for someone who is absolutely obsessed with branding and deeply invested in how our customers feel at every single touchpoint.
This role oversees the development and execution of marketing strategies across campuses, aggressively leveraging social media, planning digital and on-the-ground promotions, and coordinating with university partners. Day-to-day tasks include listening intently to customer feedback to relentlessly refine the brand message, conducting market research, and optimizing customer acquisition. The CMO will collaborate with operations and sales teams to align marketing with service offerings, manage public relations, and track metrics to continuously improve strategies. This role also involves mentoring student marketing team members, managing budgets, and acting as the ultimate brand ambassador at campus events.
Qualifications
- Brand Obsession & Detail Orientation: Deeply passionate about brand identity with an eagle eye for detail, ensuring consistency, quality, and a cohesive "feel" across all platforms.
- Social Media Mastery: A proven ability to creatively and effectively leverage social media to build community, tell compelling stories, and drive authentic student engagement.
- Customer-Centric Mindset: An obsession with customer feedback and a constant desire to iterate and perfect the brand experience based on what our users are saying.
- Market Planning & Management: Demonstrated skills in designing and leading highly effective campus and regional campaigns.
- Market Research & Public Relations: Strong abilities in analyzing student needs, managing brand reputation, and navigating campus communications.
- Sales & Growth Collaboration: A sales-oriented mindset with the ability to drive student sign-ups and partnership growth alongside the operations team.
- Experience & Communication: Proven experience or coursework in marketing, business, or communications; excellent written and verbal skills to present ideas clearly to stakeholders.
- Startup Readiness: Extreme comfort working in a fast-paced, student-run startup environment and being present on campus for events, meetings, and promotions.
