Forage builds payment technology to increase online access to government benefits. Forage is a mission-driven payments company that is helping merchants accept government benefits through a single, unified API. Today, over 42 million Americans receive government assistance (ex: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP) to buy groceries.

Starting with enabling EBT SNAP online, Forage builds the financial infrastructure empowering merchants of all shapes and sizes to serve these shoppers online.

What we are looking for

We’re looking for a talented product designer to work with a set of engineers and a product manager to design a new consumer-facing product at Forage. As we’ve grown our B2B business, we’ve heard from EBT recipients that there are more opportunities for us to help them pay with EBT online and save money along the way. You’ll have the opportunity to help low-income Americans get more value for their dollar with improved tools to navigate the rapidly evolving online grocery delivery ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of experience designing successful consumer software products or consumer-grade B2B products with several examples of these projects in a portfolio you can share with us.
• Experience building 0 -> 1 products, preferably at earlier stage startups.
• Proficiency in leading design tools and methodologies. Comfortable creating consistent, implementable designs in Figma and rapidly iterating on them in collaboration with product and engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to hone a product concept from high-level requirements to engineering-ready specs. You’re comfortable leading user research with initial prototypes and love dialing in the level of detail as you build conviction in the approach to solving your users’ problems.
• Strong communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate timelines, to acknowledge and act on feedback, and to voice questions or concerns about strategy as well as execution.
• High velocity. You bias towards getting fresh designs in front of users to keep learning and reliably hit your targets for deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of our new consumer product, leveraging our preexisting user research and prototypes to build a delightful, easy to use consumer web app.
• Rapidly iterate on designs by collaborating with and distilling insights from end-users as well as your colleagues in engineering and product.
• Contribute to Forage’s design process and components building towards a design system for the future of our consumer products, upleveling the company’s approach to design and capacity to produce visually consistent and pixel-perfect designs.

• Compensation: $100-125 USD/Hour Depending on Experience

Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at our headquarters in San Francisco, California. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
