Unbundled Attorney is a legal lead generation company on a mission to transform the affordability and accessibility of legal services across North America.

We have a national network of over 500 Family Law, Estate/Probate, Immigration, Criminal, Landlord / Tenant, Traffic and Bankruptcy attorneys across the United States who utilize our services to help grow their law practices.

Each attorney we work with provides both "unbundled" or "limited scope" legal services, as well as affordable payment plans for full representation, helping to make legal help more accessible to lower and middle-income families, while also building a highly profitable practice.

We are currently seeking a Fractional Human Resources Director to help us grow our internal team and ensure that our talented professionals are supported as they deliver on our mission of increasing access to justice.

Job Title: Fractional Human Resources Director

Responsibilities

  • Draft and distribute a comprehensive employee handbook tailored to a virtual, distributed team
  • Transition all team members (employees and ICs) into Gusto, replacing legacy platforms such as ViewPost
  • Oversee setup and administration of healthcare benefits and employee classifications in Gusto
  • Coordinate employee and contractor policy acknowledgments and digital signatures
  • Provide guidance on umbrella insurance policies and general liability coverage for the business
  • Evaluate and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s mission and growth objectives
  • Serve as the point of contact for HR policy questions, employee relations, and team support
  • Deliver HR reports and analysis to leadership for decision-making
  • Ensure full compliance with labor regulations applicable to remote teams across the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in Gusto for payroll, onboarding, benefits, and contractor management - especially in transition projects
  • Highly proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar, Gmail) for documentation and coordination
  • Proven experience managing healthcare plan transitions and employee benefits for small businesses
  • Familiarity with umbrella insurance policies and liability coverage relevant to remote service businesses
  • Prior experience working in remote-first, fast-paced startup environments (not corporate or government roles)
  • Track record of creating and implementing HR policies, including handbooks
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate independently and meet deadlines with minimal oversight
  • Passion for expanding access to justice and empowering purpose-driven teams

Job Type

  • Independent Contractor Position
  • This is a 100% remote, work-from-home position. You can work from anywhere in the USA, or around the world.

Compensation

  • Starting Base Compensation is $3,000 per month ($36k per year)
