Indigo Technologies is seeking for a Fractional General Counsel that will serve as a key member of the executive team, reporting directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for overseeing all legalaspects of our business operations, including but not limited to regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, intellectual property protection, and risk management. As an early member of the team, the candidate will have a significant impact on not only the design of our legal function, but also on the evolution of our insurance strategy more broadly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and own a comprehensive legal and compliance strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing insurance, healthcare, data privacy, employee relations, and technology.
• Understanding of state by state insurance regulatory and compliance frameworks.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including reinsurance agreements vendor contracts, customer agreements, strategic partnerships and more.
• Identify potential legal and regulatory risks across various risk bearing structures including fronting arrangements, quota share agreements, captives, and Risk Retention Groups and quickly mitigate risk for the business.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal implications in business decisions and product development.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance best practices and legal requirements.
• Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the insurance industry, proactively adjust company practices and policies to remain in compliance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of legal experience, with a focus on insurance, healthcare, or technology law.
• Property and Casualty insurance industry experience required.
• In-depth knowledge of medical malpractice insurance and related regulations is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in contract negotiation and risk management.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in a startup environment or familiarity with technology startups is a plus.
• Attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity.
