Overview

Friendship Public Charter School is on a journey from good to great. Our aspirations are ambitious: every Friendship school achieving Level 1 performance, Friendship becoming the best place to work and learn, and an organization that continues to grow without sacrificing quality or the experience of our people.

Achieving these goals requires an exceptional People function. We are evolving toward an integrated People operating system that connects Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, Talent Development, workforce planning, retention, and performance.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Part-Time Deputy Chief People Officer to partner with the Chief People Officer and People Team leaders to accelerate the implementation of Friendship’s 24-month People Transformation Roadmap. This is a results-driven, 3–6-month engagement focused on moving quickly from strategy to execution, delivering measurable improvements in employee experience and operational effectiveness, and establishing the processes, systems, and accountability needed for long-term success. The successful candidate will be an action-oriented leader who can drive immediate progress, build internal team capacity, and ensure improvements are sustainable beyond the engagement.

Please note that the range is $100 - $210 per hour.

Engagement: Initial three-month assignment, with potential extension through June 30, 2027

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of priority People Team transformation initiatives, accelerating progress from strategy and design to measurable operational improvements.
  • Build and implement a consistent, effective new-hire onboarding process that strengthens Day 1 readiness, campus coordination, and the overall employee experience.
  • Streamline hiring-to-start workflows
  • Standardize and improve critical HR processes.
  • Assess ADP utilization, identify and map high-impact improvements, and develop a roadmap for continued system optimization, automation, and integration.
  • Design and begin implementing an integrated Talent Strategy/HR Business Partner operating model that strengthens school partnerships, workforce planning, retention, and talent development.
  • Coach People Team leaders, strengthen cross-functional accountability, and transfer the tools, processes, and capabilities needed to sustain improvements beyond the engagement.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a strategic thought partner and hands-on builder who can move seamlessly from strategy to execution. They bring strong HR expertise, sound judgment, a collaborative leadership style, and a demonstrated ability to improve systems while developing the people responsible for sustaining them.

This role is not simply about designing a better People function. It is about delivering measurable improvements today while building the capabilities, systems, and operating model Friendship needs for tomorrow.

Qualifications

  • 15 years experience in Human Resources
  • Master's in HR related work preferred
  • Certification in HR preferred
