Overview
Seeking an experienced, top-firm–trained attorney (AmLaw, elite boutique, or comparable government background) for a narrowly scoped initial engagement, with the potential to expand into ongoing fractional house counsel.
This is not traditional outside counsel work. I am a legally fluent client who drafts airtight complaints and handles most groundwork. What I need is licensed credibility, sharp judgment, and decisive execution—not padding, memo spam, or billing theatrics.
Phase 1 — Immediate Need
- Handle a limited-scope New Jersey real estate + probate matter
- Estimated 2–4 total hours
- Filing, appearance, or targeted intervention as appropriate
- Objective: add licensed authority and procedural leverage where meritorious pro se filings are discounted
Phase 2 — Fractional Counsel (Optional, Ongoing)
As ventures expand, the role may evolve into part-time fractional counsel (8–10 hrs/week) covering:
- Franchise law (structuring, compliance, expansion)
- Hedge fund / investment management matters (governance, regulatory awareness)
- Real estate transactions and disputes (PA primary, NJ occasional)
- Litigation triage and escalation decisions
- Pre-litigation positioning and settlement strategy
The focus is ending problems early, not manufacturing billables.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed in BOTH Pennsylvania and New Jersey
- Top-firm trained (AmLaw / elite boutique / senior government)
- 10+ years experience
- Fluency in franchise law, real estate law, and investment / hedge fund issues
- Comfortable with limited-scope, capped, and fractional engagements
- Writes with authority; speaks plainly; understands how courts actually operate
What This Is Not
- Not full-service outside counsel
- Not associate-driven work
- Not open-ended billing
- Not $15,000 retainers for four pieces of paper
What Is Valued
- Precision over volume
- Judgment over process
- Writing that changes behavior immediately
Bonus (not required):
- Settlement letters that end nonsense fast
- Courtroom presence that can make a jury laugh appropriately
- Ability to make a judge or senior clerk smirk while still ruling in your favor
Compensation
- $200–$300/hour starting rate
- Clear scope and caps
- Ongoing role structured by mutual agreement only
This rate reflects seniority, reduced overhead, predictable hours, and a client who does not waste time.
