The Company
Description: We're a small business that provides lending for construction projects nationwide, mostly ground-up multi-family.
Stage & proof points:
- Founded in the early 2000's
- Over $4 billion in loans originated to date
The Work Needed
Problem: We're winding down our legacy fund in favor of a deal-by-deal financing structure, and want someone strategic who can guide us through this transition successfully
Specifically, you'll:
- Forecast cash flows across the wind down to determine which assets to hold vs. sell, guide asset sale timing, and avoid liquidity issues
- Own scenario modeling and FP&A to inform the strategy for our new deal-by-deal funding business
- Build the bank relationships we need to secure back leverage on new loans
- Manage the annual audit
- Meet with prospective and existing investors on occasion
- Work most closely with our CEO, Chief of Staff, and Controller
- Work out of our office based in Los Angeles 2 - 3 days a week
About You
You MUST have:
- Been CFO or equiv. for other small businesses
- Deep knowledge of business lending, or any kind of lending where capital is released through a draw process
- Comfort with deal-by-deal or co-invest funding, not just pooled fund structures
- Experience winding down a fund or portfolio, including what to sell and when
- Built and managed relationships with banks to secure leverage
- Based in the Los Angeles area only and willing to work out of our office regularly
Nice-to-haves:
- Construction lending experience
- Real estate experience
