Align Social Impact is seeking a highly-skilled and mission-aligned Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our growing consulting firm. Align is a full-service strategy and impact consulting firm at the nexus of storytelling, research, culture, philanthropy, and systems change. We specialize in serving brand, nonprofit, talent, and foundation clients worldwide to accelerate their impact in ways that can be felt and measured. The Fractional CFO will play a critical role in shaping Align’s financial strategy and supporting sustainable growth across our global operations. This leader will work closely with the executive team to ensure financial health, compliance, and strategic investment in service of Align’s mission to drive community, business, and social outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring deep financial expertise, strategic foresight, and a collaborative spirit—with an active CPA license and a passion for social impact.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning:
- Lead financial strategy development in alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and performance dashboards.
- Advise on capital structure, investment planning, and long-term sustainability.
- Provide strategic counsel on pricing, profitability, and growth initiatives.
Budgeting & Reporting:
- Oversee annual budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with accounting partners on reconciliations, audits, and compliance.
- Present financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership and board.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and relevant financial policies.
- Oversee tax filings, insurance coverage, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Serve as point of contact for legal and regulatory financial matters.
- Maintain internal controls and financial governance systems.
Operational Finance:
- Support contract review, client invoicing, and revenue recognition processes.
- Advise on compensation frameworks, benefits modeling, and resource allocation.
- Partner with HR and operations to align financial systems with organizational needs.
- Lead financial readiness for audits, transitions, and strategic initiatives.
Executive Leadership & Culture:
- Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and executive team.
- Contribute to strategic planning, internal communications, and organizational development.
- Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Represent Align in financial discussions with clients, partners, and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience:
- Active CPA license (required).
- 10+ years of financial leadership experience, including CFO or senior finance roles (required).
- Proven success in fractional, consulting, or interim executive engagements.
- Deep understanding of nonprofit and social impact finance.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills.
- Experience with financial systems, compliance frameworks, and reporting tools.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in financial practices and decision-making.
More Details:
- Initial 6-month Contract.
- Reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
- Part-Time (up to 10 hrs/week), Remote.
- Rate to commiserate with experience ($85-$100/hr rate).
- Estimated 10–20% travel required.
- Must be authorized for employment in the United States.
