About the Role
We're a growing footwear brand looking for a freelance Art Director to own the visual direction of our shoots—from concept through execution. You'll work closely with the founder but have significant creative autonomy. This is a part-time, flexible role suited for someone who thrives in scrappy startup environments and knows how to make things look elevated without a massive budget.
What You'll Do
- Develop concepts and mood boards for campaigns and e-commerce shoots
- Plan shot lists and oversee creative direction on set
- Book studios and handle light production coordination
- Source and manage relationships with photographers and models (existing network preferred, or willingness to build one)
- Mock up concepts using Gemini and Canva
- Execute a range of work from simple product photography to larger brand campaigns
What We're Looking For
- Based in NYC with availability for occasional in-person work
- Experience directing shoots across e-commerce and campaign styles
- Comfortable with lean productions—resourceful, organized, self-directed
- Eye for refined, luxurious aesthetics
- Familiar with AI tools (Gemini) and design platforms (Canva)
Details
- Project volume: approximately one shoot every other month
- Reports to: Founder
- Creative collaboration is central, but you'll have room to run with ideas
