What We’re Building
We’re building Shelf. It's a digital shelf that updates as you consume content online. You can control what shows up on your shelf, and see when people you know are watching, reading or listening to the same thing. Shelf peaked at #6 on the app store and was selected as one of the best 13 apps of 2023 by Business Insider. Shelf is built on top of infrastructure that allows you to reclaim control over your consumption and interest data, and provision third-party access to it to personalize experiences without compromising your privacy.
The Opportunity
We have a ton of really interesting usage and behavior data and are looking for support running analysis regularly.
In this role you will:
- Work directly with CEO (Jad)
- Work on a fractional basis for about 10hrs / week, mostly async work with occasional huddles
- Derive insights on user behavior and product performance and help hone in on a-ha moments, and core drivers of growth and retention
- Contribute to product strategy
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to prioritize features, plan roadmaps, and make data-driven decisions that align with the company's goals
- Contribute to the design and optimization of core product flywheels
- Collaborate with engineering to track events, and build tooling to measure and communicate efficacy of product experiments and propose recommendations
We’re early stage, so you'll have an opportunity to shape the product direction!
Ideal Candidate
You’re likely a good fit if you have:
Startup Experience: You're familiar working in the 0.5-1 zone, and with quick product development iteration cycles, with little tooling set up for you at the outset.
Strong product intuition: You have good instincts around what consumers want, and are able to ground your recommendations based on first-principled thinking and quant insights.
Extensive experience in quantitative analysis roles: Ideally you've worked closely with product teams at a major consumer app or consumer software company for at least 3 years, including performing root cause analysis studies.
Experimentation analysis expert: A comprehensive understanding of the statistical concepts behind experimentation and strong experience working with product stakeholders in designing tests, interpreting results and deep diving to understand the drivers of impact
Work from anywhere but have significant overlap with East Coast USA hours
Ideally you've used Amplitude a lot!
Here are some quotes from team members around what they want to see:
- “Have strong intuition about what to look for in the numbers"
- “Analyzing data is second nature, can give them DB access and they'll know what to do + they're Amplitude ninjas"
- “Put ego aside when running analysis: don't come at things with preconceived notions of what they should be"
- “Are comfortable with lots of ambiguity”-"Are patient and proactive in the face of lack of tooling!"
