The China Global South Project (CGSP) is an independent media and research initiative dedicated to analyzing China’s engagement across Africa, Latin America, and Asia. We are currently seeking a Fractional Growth Manager.
Our flagship platforms — chinaglobalsouth.com and CGSP Intelligence — provide rigorous, field-grounded coverage for global audiences seeking to understand how China’s global footprint is reshaping the developing world.
Our next growth phase centers on expanding digital subscriptions and newsletter readership among policymakers, analysts, and researchers — particularly within the U.S. national security and foreign policy community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive audience growth strategy aligned with editorial and business goals.
- Design and optimize the subscription funnel (awareness → trial → paid → institutional).
- Define and track KPIs across acquisition, activation, conversion, retention, and lifetime value.
Marketing and Growth Operations
- Build targeted campaigns across LinkedIn, Twitter/X, and email to reach high-trust prospective customers in Washington/London/Singapore/Brussels, and policy audiences.
- Implement lead-nurturing automations in ConvertKit, Campaign Monitor or HubSpot.
- Conduct A/B testing on landing pages, newsletters, and pricing models.
- Develop lead magnets and briefing products that drive conversion from free to paid tiers.
Audience Data & Analytics
- Build an analytics dashboard integrating GA4, Campaign Monitor metrics, and CRM data.
- Monitor key performance indicators: subscriber growth, engagement rate, churn, and retention cohorts.
- Advise leadership on data-driven insights for content positioning and pricing.
Institutional & B2B Growth
- Develop and execute a plan for institutional subscriptions (think tanks, government agencies, and universities).
- Create outreach materials, case studies, and reports that support enterprise sales.
- Identify partnership opportunities with policy networks, conferences, and other media outlets.
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
- Audit existing audience data, list performance, and subscription funnel.
- Deliver a clear 12-month growth roadmap with prioritized initiatives and measurable KPIs.
- Launch 1–2 pilot growth experiments (e.g., targeted LinkedIn campaign, referral program, institutional outreach).
- Implement baseline analytics reporting and retention tracking.
