Fractional Clinical Director- Aster Mental Health
Reports To: CEO / Executive Director or Owner
Location: Onsite & Hybrid (2 locations: Braintree & Peabody, MA)
Employment Type: Fractional / Contract (Part-Time) to potentially lead to more time / permanent. W2 also considered.

We are a growing mental health practice dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to our patients. Our team includes Licensed Psychiatrists, Licensed Clinicians, NP, PA, support staff, and administrative personnel who collaborate to provide accessible, compassionate, mental health services.
As we expand, we are seeking an experienced Fractional Clinical Director to provide strategic clinical leadership and ensure clinical excellence across our programs—without the commitment of a full-time role.
Position Summary
The Fractional Clinical Director will play a key leadership role in guiding the clinical vision, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, supervising clinicians, and supporting operational growth. This is a part-time or managing (hands on) consulting position ideal for an experienced clinical leader who wants to make a significant impact within a flexible schedule. **We have an in-house Clinical Manager to support the position
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership & Oversight
- Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain high-quality care.
- Oversee clinical programs and service delivery, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and evidence-based treatment.
- Lead case consultations and clinical meetings to support quality and consistency across providers.
- Some Supervision & Staff Development
- Provide clinical supervision to licensed and pre-licensed clinicians, including guidance on complex cases.
- Support hiring and training of new clinicians and clinical support staff.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and accountable clinical culture.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure clinical operations meet state licensing regulations, payer requirements, HIPAA, and other compliance standards. With assistance of Clinical Manager
- Oversee documentation standards and conduct regular chart reviews. With assistance of Clinical Manager
- Advise on clinical risk management and quality assurance processes. With assistance of Clinical Manager
- Strategic Growth & Program Development
- Collaborate with leadership to align clinical programming with business goals.
- Recommend and help implement new services, specialty programs, or treatment modalities to meet community needs.
- Consultation & Advisory
- Act as a trusted advisor to the owner/executive team regarding clinical strategy, staffing, and program improvement.
- Support operational decision-making from a clinical perspective.
- Participate in strategic planning meetings as needed
Qualifications
Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field.
Licensure: Independent licensure (MD, DO, Psychiatrist preferred) in MA required. Clinical supervisor credential preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-licensure clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated understanding of mental health regulations, insurance requirements, and clinical best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with group practices, community mental health, or outpatient clinics preferred.
